OP, mail back your DX6i. It is in desperate need of the RECALL FIX.

I got hella-lucky with my DX6i as it came with my Blade 400 and was immune to the recall issues.

I am however debating if I want to just bite the bullet and get a DX7.

argh... another 200.00 LOL.

Fly it like its a Sim, Crash it like yer Rich !

I used my old DX6 and no shudder or jerky servos. Hmm. Well, I ordered a DX7 today from Honolulu, I'll get it tomorrow then I can send back the 6i to Horizon. I hope the 7 is as good as everyone thinks it is. Thanks for all the good suggestions guys. Dang, I really wanna fly my new heli.

TT

In spite of what the Horizon tech told you about not being a radio affected by the recall, the symptoms you describe would indicate otherwise.

Of course, it's a dirt simple test to see if your TX has bad pots in its sticks...go to the MONITOR MENU and watch the action of the monitor arrows as you slowly move the sticks from end to end. If the monitor arrow goes nuts instead of moving slowly, your radio is sick and needs to be returned for service.

After you have the DX7 in your hands, you'll wonder why you went with the 6i. It will be a step up and you'll thank yourself.

Thanks. I'm boxing up the 6i to HH tomorrow. I do need some help. I'm trying to program the GY401 to the gear switch on the DX7 to toggle from rate to heading hold. I get a solid LED on the 401 but can't seem to make the "gear" switch go from rate (0) to hh (1). On my 6i when the tx switch was in rate the LED on the 401 was not lit. When you go to hh then the LED lit solid. On the gyro sense menu I have the gear switch selected and gyro under it but the gear toggle doesn't seem to do anything. My gyro settings on initial test flights are rate (35) and hh (70). What am I doing or not doing?

What receiver channel do you have your gain lead plugged into?

If you're using the GYRO Sense menu, you'll need to plug it into channel 7, and enable AUTO in that menu. The flight mode switch will select the gain. Numbers greater than 50 select HH mode, 50 is close to 0 gain, 100 is close to 100% gain. Numbers less than 50 select Normal/Rate mode. 50 is close to zero gain, 0 is close to 100% gain.

If you leave it at Manual, the gain is controlled by the rudder dual rate switch.

You'll also need to go to the Input Select menu and enable Aux 2 for GYRO.

-----

If you want to use the Gear channel to control the gain, plug the gain lead into channel 5 of the RX, enable the GEAR switch on the Input Select Menu so that it says GEAR. The UP position of the gear switch will select HH, the down position will select Normal/Rate mode.
