ELIMINATING TUNED PIPE VIBRATION
Does you pipe vibrate at the end? With the clamps CURRENT location it allow for the end to vibrate much more due to lack of support. I did the same mounting & then changed the clamp to last square on the fuel tank support.

Vibration gone...

^^^^

Adding a second mounting clamp at the location you suggested might better support that long muffler/pipe and would definitely tone down or eliminate it from being vibrated.....

Irwin what do you think about the way i have it mounted now? I made a bigger stand off at work and used 4mm bolts.

It looks like you have the Ignition backwards. In the Zenoah manual it shows how to mount and how NOT to mount the EI... The opened end with the epoxy resin filler should be exposed .It looks like you have the opened end pointing up.

What do you mean? I have it with the 4.8 volt max label facing down with padding under it. I don't see why it would matter which way its mounted? What do you think?

I'm looking at the manual and i see what you mean but i don't understand why it would matter. I have the most protected side down. I might have to flip the dang thang over. All this little stuff is getting on my nerves. I was DA would come out with a heli motor.

I could kick my own butt for not remembering that, i looked at it when i first mounted it even though i had it upside down then too but i forgot about that. I guess i will have to flip it over,i'm glad i posted the pics and you caught that for me because i don't want to burn up the EI,i just hate i made another mistake. I can tell you one thing a gas heli is A LOT different that electric and nitro. I'm glad i got a gasser as i'm learning a lot about the do's and don'ts of how to built it and get it flying. I 'm going to bet scared to death to fly it. Thanks Jimbo and a good eye.

Thanks

Looking at your origional and the new position for the muffler
clamp, what if you were able to get a 2nd clamp and use
both locations?

TEFLON TAPE IS A MUST
It is necessary to wrap under the clamp mount THIN TEFLON TAPE. iT WILL HANDLE THE HEAT & prevent the clamp from eating its way through the pipe....6-8 times around the muffler or more is a good cushion...

BTW your standoff looks well positioned & very robust...Good job

With just the one clamp where i have it it is very solid i don't think it needs two, i can't move the pipe. I might take the clamp back lose and put the tape,i wish i would have nowin that before i use the red locktite.

Thanks for the input

Yikes !! Red (permanent) loctite !!!!! I know Irwin disagrees but I don't think Red loctite is necessary anywhere on a helicopter..... or at least, in very , very few select places !!! Properly applied, Blue (non permanent) type of loctite is all that is necessary.

I guess you'll have to find that out on your own after the first crash !!
