i wasn't aware there was a third lvc setting. according to the manual there is a low stick setting corresponding to high cutoff (3.2v i think) and a medium stick setting corresponding to medium cutoff (2.9v i think) . there isn't an option shown for the high stick option. so there is one but it just isn't shown? that would be awesome as i have the align esc in a plane i'd like to use the 6S A123 pack in. please tell us more about this.

Third option
Hmmm
I see 3 options in the manual.. they are as follows..

Low 70%
Med 65% default
High 60%

These numbers correlate to stick position and represent percentage of the total volts in the pack..

I dont see an option in the manual to turn it completely off anywhere.. ????

Guys if we can clarify this that would be cool !! as I want to go A123 as well, since BP Hobbies who sells the A123 is only 20 min from my house

The esc hozer speaks about shows in its setup that the 3rd position shows a line going through it . if this means disabled then thats good news as I wont have to buy a CC ESC. Anyone have an Align connection to find out ???

here is the setup link

Yeah its kinda unclear, I really hope this works out . I could put the cash towards another A123 instead on a new ESC

Here is Berts response

Hi Frank,

Never experimented with this, but I'm pretty sure that the 3rd option
disables it. At least this is the way it was done originally, not sure if
they removed that from the software, but worth a try. You could find out
pretty quickly by just hovering the machine until it has no more lift, if
this is the case then you can certainly conclude that LVC is disabled.

have tried A123 packs of 6S and 7S configurations in both Trex 500 and MSH Protos. Whether A123 packs suit you will purely depend on your flying style?

6S had a nice light feel to the models, but only packed enough power for general sport flying and light aerobatics / very light 3-D flying.

7S had a slightly heavy feel to the models, but did allow for all but the most abusive of 3-D flight. Where they lacked was with sustained aggresive flight as the pack volatage would be pulled down to low. So a quick burst of activity and back-off was absolutley fine... but you simply could not nail the model for the whole flight. They sure survived fine though!

So if ya looking at general sport flying and can accept lower power than lipo alternatives... then go for it!!! Charge times are brilliant, no worries on running the packs too low (fly till it drops out of sky if you wish), life-span is amazing, VERY resiliant in a crash and you can service the packs yourself quite easily if required.

Hope this helps!
I must admit I was all ready for ordering 6s packs until I read the post above but now I’m searching for the 7s packs

I have not tached the headspeed but the A123's on a 13 feel
like lipo's on a 12 pinion.

Some of those cheap packs have thin spot welded tabs between cells that can be a problem. I have seen reports on various forums of spot weld failures. Now when I get a new pack I open it up and solder the tabs to make sure that they don’t come loose and cause a crash.

Thanks for showing concern but they have to be better than mine and that’s why I'm relying on others just like I do with Lipos

2 batteries arrived yesterday. 1st, they will not balance on a tp610 charger. put in 300mah before i had an out of balance alarm. both batteries do the same thing.
i was flying 13t pinion with 6s 2500mah outrage packs. the a123's felt like i lost 800 rpm. didnt tach it, but it was too slow to do anything more than forward flight. hopefully, you wont need full collective for anything. i will install a 15t soon, hopefully it will pick up the pace.

Funny, that almost sounds like the initial problem I had. My A123 would not last more than 3 minutes of lackluster flight just hovering. I finally traced it to the charger not having enough power to handle the A123's and the pack became serverly unbalanced. The 5 amp charger could not handle the balancing routine. Mine was rated at 5 amps max and you need at least 7 amps, 10 would be better. What I did was I bought a Turnigy Accuel8 rated at 7 amps, I used the balance discharge function to slow discharge the pack down to 2.0v per cell. I then recharged the pack and it only took 15 minutes to reach a full charge. The pack flew almost as good as my 6S lipo with over 7 1/2 minutes of flight time on a 14t pinion. Thats with a stock motor and a CC Phoenix 60 and a BEC. This combo is great for aggressive sport flying but for hard 3D stick with lipos. Just my 1 1/2 cent worth.
