Just build your Spectra G correctly and you won't have that problem.

MA helis are tough helis. They are prooven to hold up for a long time.

They are durable. I've never had a Spectra G, but if it's anything like the Status and Extreme, you won't be let down. But hey, if you don't like the Spectra G, let me know. I'll be happy to take it off your hands.
(compared to my all metal Trex).
Does your Trex have metal struts??

IMO MA helis are the best. I've only flown two other aircraft that are not MA, so I really have no basis for comparison. I've watched Raptors, Vibes, and Trex's go into the ground and get totally destroyed. Maybe I'm lucky, but I've never really had a huge rebuild on my MAs. I've even landed it inverted, sideways, and on it's tail. Still wasn't much to replace. MA makes at least two tough helis! I abuse mine on a regular basis and they are still kicking and screaming. I'm hooked on MA... I know that there are more people out there like me. They just haven't spoke up yet.

Had a boom strike on the Stratus a couple of weekends back (weird 40MPG gust of wind out of nowhere during some hard tic-tocs) and it still floated back to earth gently in throttle hold. No more Radix blades for me, unless they are stick bangers. YES my head speed was around 1900. Yes, one blade had a huge hole close to the tip. I had to replace the boom and blades. That is all. I HAVE WITNESSES.

Count me in as a firm believer. I don't mind at all that they use the same parts. They do add new parts every once in a while to replace the old ones that have weak points. (ie, flybar carrier upgrade, Open tail gear box, etc.) What that means for me is that I can borrow parts off a different heli until more comes in. Flame me if you want, but I enjoy the two that I have.

You can hire an outside web designer to keep your website up to date for almost nothing these days, maybe $100/month or less.
interesting comment. I've not met anyone who will develop and maintain an ecommerce site with an integrated forum, blog and gallery mechanism for anywhere near that (irrespective of hosting costs)

I'd have to agree with you on that. I myself wouldn't do it that cheap either.

All this talk makes me want a Stratus. Now that the BW is down to 1100 I might just have to pull the trigger. I'd like the new one coming out but I'm sure the current Stratus is way more then I can handle. I have no desire to get a Trex 700, it just doesn't appeal to me, the only other choice would be a Synergy.

Should I do it???? Yes, No. I'm on the fence, someone kick me.

It's been "around" $1,100 since it's been out. I think I paid $1,140 for mine about a year ago directly through MA.

I've always wanted one but the "masses" always talked me out of it until now.

You know, all the stuff you read here about what heli is best is all BS. For the most part their all good and can out fly 99% of us. I've always thought MA heli's were cool and even if their current line isn't the most popular so be it, I still think their cool. I am so looking forward to building this so I can see for myself, I'm sure I'll love it.

You're still getting the one of if not the most high end machine out there. The quality is light years ahead of any brand that starts with an "A"....lol.

In many ways universal parts compatibility is a good thing.

Here is another observation:

Building my Spectra, I think it has more of an "industrial" feel to it than the other helicopters I have built.

When you look at, say, a Lexus hybrid--all of the parts are carefully formed plastic or aluminum smoothly integrated to fit with each other leaving no sharp edges. This is nice, but with the first accident you can never get things realigned again.

When you look at a Caterpillar bulldozer, it is built entirely from sheet metal held together by big nuts and bolts. If something gets damaged, it can be removed and replaced. It may have a lot of jagged corners and rough edges, but it does it's job well.

I feel my Spectra is more like something built by Caterpillar. It is industrial grade. Does anyone agree?

I've never seen a Spectra but I'll take your word for it, I like things built to last.

I don't see what the big deal is about using the same parts, if it work then so be it.

The Stratus is a beautiful high quality heli that will give any pilot years of pleasure without having to worry for parts to wear out quick or parts to break.

You do not have to be a 3D pilot!
Despite of it's claim as a 3D focused heli, it can be easily set up to fly just like a high quality precision machine, which any pilot from beginner to expert or 3D maniac will enjoy.

Tested Tuff
I have two R's and two MA Gassers. I had the R's apart so many times I sincerley cannot count ! AND neither of those have ever been in a crash. I just have a Big - O box of worn plastic parts and I'm always trolling for newer, sounder, stronger, or Up- grades.

I have a Ten Oh Five and a 1005 - SE, one with a Hanson, both with Ra's Gems. I figure I've run probabley 20 to 30 gallons of fuel and at 15 to 20 min's flying time per tank. Thats one heck of a lot of time and I can honestly say I've never yet worn any things out.

I did smak my SE once and It' was scarey hard. like a body slam. Could almost see the wave in the soil as the shock rolled past/!
Came in very hot - (hot ) , very very low and a piviot yoke bearing on the left side of the ladder decided to exit when I thru out the anchor to stop .
Fly bar, Main shaft and spindel, bar, one SAB for which "I'm looking for another" Boom and torqure rod.

Any other would of a total loss : period. Best part was I went out searching and found the exact enginnering up- grade needed to prevent it from ever happining again. Ever wonder why their's not a lot of used parts for sale ?? That why.

Crude not at all - beauty is in the engineering and Up time.

I just had a very very firm dirt nap incident with my Stratus two days ago , my fault flying with out canopy on very overcast day etc .
Anyway you should have heard it hit the ground , bits of V 710's going in all directions , it hit hard and i just got the hold as it hit .
Once the dust had settled , no one could believe the small amount of damage . They are one tuff machine . If any one thinks I'm jumpin to the like of a T700 any time soon they are kidding themselves .
Pretty pictures or jumped up super marketing or not . lol.

On the other hand I agree a new pic or two on the site would seem like a wise descision to say the least . I don't see the hard part in trying to at least keep a visually attractive image of your prduct in the face of prospective buyers . I look at the old Stratus pic feel an instant 3 year time warp going on lol .
I mean no offence to anyone but, if you think a newish picture of a sponsored kid on your site is of any importance to me the consumer in buying your product over a nice up to date picture of your products than your crazy . Man get some one with a clue to run your site , please for your sake as well as ours !

Rant over .

Their website shows 8 people working there and a couple of dogs, and I don't think the president is doing much. I'm not surprised their website is not up to date. It seems their lucky just to get kits put together.

Who is the brains behing Miniature Aircraft? Who designs the parts and the helis? What is their history?

It's either lazy, arrogant, poor management or they simply don’t care (maybe all of the above). If it’s not in the budget or they lack the staff, they could go to the local junior college and hire an intern to do the website for free. I know this because I have done it in my business many times!

The bottom line here is MA makes some of the best products in the world that capitalizes on a niche portion of the market. However, if they don't get their act together, that niche portion of the market will deteriorate and they unfortunately won't be around long.

People will pay for high quality and a refined product but people will walk away if the rest of the operation is Mickey Mouse. Look at the Aurora. Everybody wanted one when it was first introduced but with all the ambiguity that went on, most people now won’t touch one with a 10-foot pole.

Have they even released the Avant Aurora yet? Seems to me it has been "coming soon" for at least 2 years (like the Probar).

Kind of sorta but that's a different topic. Let's not go there here.
