Hello All,

I am curious if anyone can shed some light on some thoughts I have. I own and have always really enjoyed MA's products. I realize they are a little expensive but, "You get what you pay for", I am sure you all realize.

Anyways. I am really curious why everyone seems to be giving away there MA stuff, even the latest BW sometimes even trading for Align 700?

What do you guys think?

Thanks in advance for any input!

i would say because it is cheap in price and two of each part when you buy crash parts.

raptor took over the japanese helis because of the price, now align is just cheaper then raptor, and a ccpm design

plus you get a free rag to wipe your heli with the kit, how can you beat that lol

if ma lowerd there parts price to align levels then i think alot more people would be flying ma...

plus align is very quick to the market with new goodies...

look at ma why is it taking them so long to come out with the new 90? its just a new frame set with a new clutch and fan????? i`m still waiting for it MA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

nitro fun, thanks for the comments. I guess i didnt really look into what align has to offer. I have been a happy customer with MA for so long that i guess i have never really wanted to look elsewhere. Although, i have seen the T700 and it just looks so much more like a toy than the current stratus. Nice heli but it just doesnt look to be in the same league, but i guess the price reflects that as well.

i am kinda looking for a backup 50 or 90 and am wondering if it is worthwhile to buy a trex or just wait for the new miniature offerings.

Thanks Again, happy flying!

Here is the hard facts and trust me, I am also a Miniature fan!

The Trex 700 is the least expensive 90 kit to purchase, repair, and maintain out there. Parts support is second to none. The heli fly's just as good if not better than almost every 90 out there depending on your flying style.

Yes, some parts wear out faster but you paid 50% less for the kit and replacement parts usually come in two or three to the bag which are still 50% cheaper than buying one part for say the _______(fill in the blank).

On top of all that, you open the box, pour some locktite in, close the box, shake for about 1 minute and the heli is built. Same goes for a crash.

You add all that up and you have one hell of a helicopter.

Here is a small list of guys off the top of my mind that are flying 700's now. If it's good enough for these guys, it's more than likely good enough for the rest of us.

Nick Maxwell
Jamie Robertson
Alan Szabo
Lukas Riva
Bert Kammerer
Tim Jones
Steven Gerrard

The only negative that I can come up with is the fact that everybody has the same old heli. But hey, if it works, it works!

Thanks Ghostrider,

I have seen you gallery and i think your stuff is beautiful. Thanks so much for all your comments, I am going to sleep on it and wait a little longer and see what miniature comes up with. Honestly, i enjoy the detailed building and complexity of MA products as much if not more that actually flying itself. Some of the guys on here including yourself i am sure have amazing skills, i for one am just not that gifted..... LOL :-)

Thanks Again all!

you're gonna want to repost in the avant section. you'll get a lot of flak here

seriously you're in a win-win situation. if you like to wrench just score a used stratus for cheap. I've seen even trades for 50's in some cases

btw ghost hit the nail on the head. as good as the stratus is, it's hard to ignore the trex for all the mentioned reasons

I think some MA flyers also have more than one MA heli either as a back-up or in order to have a variety of configurations...and...it is always fun to try other helis at times. I have three stratus', and while I really like them and have no issues with them, the thought has crossed my mind about having only two and trading or selling one to try a trex700.

haven't done it yet though!

Hey Ben, thanks for your comments.

To all that are interested, i was browsing MAs site and on the front page just they just severly dropped the price of the Stratus, and Spectra G, i guess they are feelin it as well. My only hope is that in the end quality isnt cut just to stay in competition with align.

New stratus bw kit is now listed on MAs site for $1099.95, seems like a pretty good deal, now if the parts support was there and the parts price came down to suit.

I'm on my 3rd E Stratus.. sold the first one to get a Synergy. I was after the large main gear on the Synergy. Ended up with another M/A
heli a Tempest wich i converted to a E Stratus. I sort of had a Trex 700 fall in my lap and wanted to convert it to a E heli also.. So i sold that E Stratus to pay a buddy for the T Rex..

Well here we go again.. Got another E Stratus.. I guess i can't keep away from them. They are great pieces of machinery.. And fly so Smoooth...
Now when the new 90 comes out I'm chompin at the bit to turn it into a E Heli also...
there
there's my 2 cents worth...

I got a T-Rex 700 because I got tired of waiting for the new MA 90 to come out. But there's something to be said for exclusivity and high quality. The price drop of the Stratus tells me my wait is almost over!

That depends on what your definition of "almost" is. I think we will be lucky to see the new 90 on the shelves any time this year.

By the looks of MA's website and the time it's taken for them to ship the newer helis, I think MA is really falling to the wayside. I hate to say it but when a company has a photograph of their flagship heli that is not what it really looks like, they would make me wonder. Early on you could understand but what does it take to take a picture of a recent heli that you sell and put it on your website? Do they understand marketing? This is a company that wants to be THE premier helicopter designer? They really look to be out of touch.

This is not what my Stratus looks like...

Hey Hootowl,

Question. i see you comment about saying that your stratus doesnt look like the pic. I am curious what exactly do you mean? I know there has been several updates to the model, ie. gas tank, BW frame set (which is almost the same except servo position, bellcranks etc.)and also it doesnt come with a painted canopy.

No Pun intended just curious about your thoughts.

Thanks!

I think he is talking about what you mentioned. Tank, canopy, frames, bell cranks, tail box, etc...

I have to agree with Hoot. At least take a new picture.

Everyone lets look at the history for awhile, what comes goes, what goes comes back.

I am thankful of Align to add a spice of life into this hobby and for the electric helis to boot, so many heli's now being flown, on the Main discussion almost the same question was asked on why so many align's being sold in the classifieds.

I really believe its unfair to say anything due to the times we are all in this issue has been beat to death.

I do like a good read, but as for this hobby prices need to come down it must in order to stay with the times.
If MA goes out or any other heli company goes out it hurts us all.

If Align takes the market for awhile then so be it I know that all is good and this hobby is here to stay regardless.
Its all about getting out and flying right??

I will say this, America needs to buy American if its to stay on top, and to provide to a different country is bad for Americans right now.

But then again, Americans need to sell what Americans want too.
I am going to laugh my azz off if MA's heli being released takes a mega hold, Align is going to cringe.

This hobby sucks, when your not flying.

We all want MA to do great. It's not about one company putting another away. We like variety. I was just commenting on the marketing side a little. This hobby is growing. For companies to attract they should have up to date web sites and up to date products. That's all I'm saying. You can only run on history for so long. Sooner or later you become history. MA has some beautiful helis. They need to get the newer stuff out. We got a new season coming on quick. It's literally becoming years for MA to release these new products.

And what the heck happened to V-Blades? They were supposed to be up and running weren't they? How can a company survive... go from a premier carbon blade manufacturer to simply shutting down. I guess there is more to the story.
