As stated by jschenk, the spacers are there to raise the hei (tail rotor) higher. As this is a big and relatively heavy heli with a constant drive tail. Any contact of the tail rotor with terra firma etc. will result in stripping teeth off of the crown gear, even in a hard enough landing in an Auto that does no other damage. As soon as the rotating t/r blade contacts the ground, it can take out the crown gear teeth..so I always recommend using them.

No, I did get the ESS with my kit, what was not included were some bolts, can't remember the size, maybe 35mm, and my bellcranks didn't had the spacers between the bearings.

Oh yes, and the lower main shaft thrust bearing wasn't included either. Some other things, nothing big, would need to check my records.

the ESS only comes with the CF version if you look at the comparison page. BUT, if you look at the ESS upgrade part by itself, it says it is a replacement part for even the SE metal kit. If you look at the page for the SE (metal ver) it says it comes with the ESS as well. The only page that says the metal SE does NOT come with the ESS is the comparison page.

I thought I was supposed to get it so I asked and Century is sending it to me regardless. So, if anything, I am getting more than I paid for.

There is obviously some errors on their site, but whether the metal ver of the SE is supposed to include the ESS, I have no idea.

Bellcranks...
Hey Manol,

I just assembled my Bellcranks. I had to put the bearings in myself and when I tighten them a little, they are stiff as well. If I tightened them up, they would not even move.

Are the new ones you got like this too or did you just use loctite and not tighten them up very much?

That ad was from the SE NX, NOT the Carbon version, but as long as YOU are happy, that's good enough.

Once I got the new set from esprit these came with the spacers that go between the bearings, I assembled them locktited and tightened them firm and the bellcrancks are free on their movement.

When you say "spacers" are you refering to the 9mm black spacer or are you talking about a thin washer of some sort?

The spacers are cylindrical metallic small tubes that are placed between the bearings.

thelane,

was looking at the century site and unless you get the carbon version, no ESS is included.

Yes, we figured that out now, but you can easily see how you would "think" you get it, as is sats in more than one place that it IS included with the kit.

The ONLY page that says it is NOT included is the "gasser comparison page". Everywhere else it says it IS included.

Look at the part itself here

http://www.centuryheli.com/products...d=&prtnm=CN2300

It says:

Predator Gasser SE NX (replacement part)
Predator Carbon Gasser NX (replacement part)
Predator Carbon Gasser SE NX (replacement part)

I "thought" it came with the part. No big deal, just justifying why I thought it came with the part.

In the end, Century said:

"No, it does not come with the part, but we will send it to you anyway for free, sorry for the confussion".

That's customer service... like I said, the customer service has been outstanding.

Honestly, I was confused about that also and I do remember seeing statements somewhere on their website that indicates it comes with the SE kit as well as the SE CF kit.

On your side and agree with ya,

BTW, thanks for the contribution you are making to the build. If it wasnt for the pain, efforts, and documentation you are going through here it would be next to impossible to build one of these on your own. Century should thank you (free model) for your work here, especially considering that if someone like me bought one and did not have this info, I would just believe that their products were crap and it would end up broken, in the dirt, and ultimately in the trash (or on ebay).

If a us representative, distributor or pro is reading this, in your next staff meeting you may want to consider what is going on here. Seems like all gassers ultimately are good quality, they all seem to have good service (because so much practice), what is missing is quality control, documentation, and consistency.

These things should not be that difficult and in my opinion the US Representative should hire someone (like thelane) to build and document this thing. Next thing would be to put a table like the one on your website on the box showing the difference between the models.

Doesnt sound like it but I do like the end product and will likely purchase one, but what thelane has gone through (as I likely will too) is not acceptable.

LOL... thanks for the plugs man.

I was thinking about using their manual last night and re-creating a NEW manual from scratch actually. Would take hours, but I have nothing else to do anyway so I might still do that.

It would be somewhat slow, but I could still create an inventory of parts I think. I'll have a look today and maybe do this at least too.

Sorry about the confusion. To clarify, the ESS system comes with all the new NX Gasser kits except for the lowest end gasser kit: CN1303, and CN1303A.

Thank you very much for clearing that up. Having Century come and chime in is VERY encouraging and supportive.

You are from Century - yes?

Will you be updating the chart that shows the ESS only on the 1305 and 1307 kits?

Specifically, this chart

http://www.centuryheli.com/products...303/compare.htm

Shows that the 1304 kit does not come with the ESS.

Yet the description for the 1304 kit shows it does come with the ESS

http://www.centuryheli.com/products...n1304/index.htm

Thanks for clarifying!
