Wow can't believe how quickly you have adopted and are signing Nate Jr. ... fascinating

although hotstart is a great nickname, one you never get by accident

then again some of the best nicknames I ever heard were crashy, lockout, and sir charge alot

actually the nickname is only attainable by accident. you don't purposefully hotstart your heli and break the only 2 things that survived the last crash.

so the story goes. got my 600NSP built it and used loctite on the spindle bolt, but not much for fear of getting it in the thrust bearings. after about 3.5 gallons I am doing crack up high and my blades fly off. it breaks everything but the blades which floated safely to the ground. and the entire tail section. it broke the main rotor housing, the swashplate, l/r main frames, skids, pipe, canopy, radio tray, cracked the crankcase on my 53 (JB welded). mainshaft, flybar. any way it was freaking smashed. the blades and the tail were ok.

I left the heli sitting and went to camp for a month. then got back and pretty much started from scratch. I just took everything apart and cleaned it, I even had to re dremel the servo holes.

finally get it put back together, spent most of the day at the field re doing my electronics, and when I went to start it I was in idle 1. heli jumps out of my hands and starts chicken dancing. I try to check the switches and didn't hit it back to normal, so I went over and steped on the rotor head and pinched the exaust deflector. damage was blades and tail gears, not bad, but ever since then I have had to look over on the other side of the heli and watch the throttle servo go up and down a few times.

so now I run thought bottles of threadlock in under a month, and I always triple check my throttle servo.

Nate Jr. although I find all of your story telling hilarious and very informative, I'm going to give you a little advice. When standing next to a fire don't throw gas at it. You do realize that we are all logging the info you are giving us for future or current nicknames and probably some of the most ruthless ballbusting you will ever be subject to, right? Carry on.

Ya I am thinking about making this a 4 dayer as well. This is becoming a great event and still over 3 weeks away waaahhhhh. Even the ball busting is already gearing it up for a lot of fun for the smackdown. It seems that there may be quite a few night birds at this one, maybe a night fly smackdown is in order?
