I will look into changing the motor. Horizon lost interest when I told them I had broken a blade grip on the plastic head--said that voided the warranty.

GWS also has suitable motors. Check the motor ratings or do a search on separates in this forum.

There is also a link to separates in mt gallery...

Let us know what you try, and how you make out.

Holdup
I wonder what the holdup is on tail motors and tail rotors. I have had one of each on backorder for at least 2 months. How can they be producing the helis if they have no parts?
Other than that, Horizon Hobby has been EXCELLENT at getting me parts delivered, usually in 2 days or so at standard delivery rates.

I have spoke with several people at horizon and they all tell me something different. the one thing tthat is consistent is the tail motors will be available may 20th . one rep told me that they just haven't built the motors to sell because its to new. looks like long weeks ahead on the sim

The stock CP pro 2 tail works so good that I cannot see the need to go brushless. Is seems that e-flite has finally figured out how to make the Blade CP work well without mods.

What's the pitch curve like out-of-the box with idle-up engaged?

Basically I'm wondering if I can fly 3D with the stock transmitter or if I should dust off an old 8UH and find a 2.4 module for it.

I'm thinking about getting into helis after a long absence. I never really asked much of my radios so I figure if the stock radio will give me a symmetrical pitch curve and adjustable cycle rates I'll probably be satisfied.

Thanks!

The stock transmitter should allow you to to do some 3D with the CPP2 right out of the box. There is a Normal Flight Mode which has some expo built into the curves for beginners, then there is a Dual Rate switch which yield 100% response out of the cyclic controls for increased response and more robust flight characteristics in Normal mode as skill level progresses.
Then there is the Stunt Flight Mode (or Idle Up) which has an interesting variable throttle curve adjustment knob associated with it. When in Stunt mode, and the knob is in lowest position, the pitch curve is linear from -12 deg. to + 12 deg, and the throttle curve is V-shaped with 75% being the low point at mid stick. As you turn the knob up, that low point rises, until it is finally 100% all the way across the range of the stick (ie- a flat throttle curve). Pitch is maintained at -12 to +12.
All this info is accurate the way I understand the manual.
Hope this answers your question.
Cheers!
