Man, the list is really growing now. Looks like another off the hook event. Can hardly wait.

Just a reminder about the special arrangements with the Holiday Express hotel here in Tyler for those that wish to stay over night. They have set aside a block of rooms just for you at a great discount ~ 20%. They offer a buffet style breakfast for their guests.

Just mention TUFF (Texas Unlimited Fun Flyers) when making your reservations.

I got my hotel room booked. I decided to stay at the Quality Inn that's in the same area because I'm already a member of their discount points plan. Plus, their king rooms are $1 cheaper per night (before taxes) than Holiday Inn's discount rate.

My Knight 3D kit purchase has sapped any funds I might have used for a night rig, but I look forward to witnessing some good night flying. Let's hope there's a better response than at last year's SRC! That was disappointing.

IS Anyone Planning on Night Flying
Yes Alan the night flying was somewhat off last year, especially compared to the fantastic show that was the year before. However I am hoping to entice people to do some night flying here at the Heli Unlimited event. Maybe we ought to have some kind of night flying contest.

Maybe some kind of prize or pilot give away or maybe if not this year, maybe next we might put up some prize money. That way guys would have a little more incentive to go night Flying which is something I really enjoy watching and doing myself, but I am not very good at nightflying because I guess I am getting older and it seems that I have a hard time tracking the helicopter at night.

However maybe we can do something to spur more nightflying. I am sure the public would enjoy seeing it too. So let's hope we have a good turn out of night flyers and everyone is not waiting on everyone else to do it. What do you think guys

I've stayed at many Quality Inns. They're all part of the Choice Hotels chain (brands: Quality, Sleep, Comfort, and Clarion). Besides, that particular Quality Inn is also a conference center, so I figure it should be pretty nice.

I don't want to turn this into a "my hotel is better than your hotel" argument. I was just suggesting an alternative. If you don't like it, you can certainly stay at the Holiday Inn.

WOW! 38 people for a fun fly that didn't have a lot of planning time. That's pretty impressive. I looked at the field on the Google Maps satellite view and it looks like things might get a bit cramped if everybody shows up. Is there going to be sufficient maneuvering space available for us "big" (i.e. sport) fliers, maybe on the north end of the field?

Plenty of Room
Hey Alan
Yes, there should be enough room. There is probably room for 7 flight stations, especially if you use the room on the far south side of the field.

Fly at your own risk :)
Hello Inky
I am not even in the area now, so I can't help you. However I believe there are people that will be out to the field. You can drop by and say Hello and tell them who you are and that you are associated with the Texas Unlimited Fun Flyers and if any members of that club are out then perhaps you might get to fly.

Glad to see you are interested in coming to the Event on May 9th.

Terry

Last Call for T-shirts
There is only going to be a limited number of t-shirts at the event, if you want one or know someone that might want one, please contact me by emailing me or PMing me and letting me know how many you want and what size you might want. There are no small sizes that will be brought to the event, the only ones we are ordering are large or extra large sizes.

If I know that someone wants a small size I can order it, but so far there have been no orders placed for the smaller size t-shirts

The event is less then two weeks away and everything is looking good so far

Night Flying, NightFlying and more Night Flying
We really want to push this idea of nightflying and I talk to Nick Maxwell and he said he would stay and fly at night a few times. And for all of you that might have never seen Nick Night Fly he is as good at night flying as he is in the day time and that is fantastic. As a matter of fact, he is the defending Ircha night flying champion from last year. So this should be sweet, hopefully we wil have some more pilots that are there as well. Furthermore we might spice this thing up some type of pilot give aways. We will see how things go
