Alan it's just like any thing else...you get out of it what you put into it.It's good to hear you are practicing and likeing it.

I used to compare helicopters to playing an instument.

Is official now the band called today and commited 100%

I have some ideas how to better organize the fun fly. I threw a couple of ideas out there to some people and got some feedback on them. At first I was going to say I would like to see the top pilots and then it turned into sponsored pilots get reserved space for the center of the field.
As a sponsored pilot come certain obligations to demo and help set up the product and generally help others.

There are only a hand full of top pilots that frequent the fun flies here in the northwest. My opinion is our top pilots are an asset to the fun fly.

I guess the way I look at it is like putting on a show.

To me it just makes sense to put all the action in one place so anyone needs help or has questions about something they go to one place (win) the pilots will attract people to the center where the vendors and booths are(win) When you put good pilots together there is going to be more competition (win) You go to center field get parts watch the better pilots fly in ONE place.(win) I know some pilots that don’t like to pit next to top pilots because it makes them uncomfortable so they pit near the end anyway win win!!

Not that easy…besides the risk of pi$$ing every one else off Rob a friend of mine said if the center is for top or sponsored pilots what about their friends? Will they be able to pit together?
The more I thought about it the more complicated it got.

There has to be a way we can organize this with out offending some people making a problem out of it.
If any one has any ideas let me know.

Another idea I have is to have noontime demos not just for top pilots but for anyone that wants an audience keeping the flights 4 to 5 minutes. Also have use of the PA if they want to fly to music.
I think that would be fun...grab your chair go to center field and watch everyone put out their best moves that wants to for an hour or so

Having fun that's what it's all about

That sounds like a plan, and will be cool to try something different. Why not allow people to pit where they want to, and the "center pilots" simply walk to the center to fly.

My first Fun-Fly
I'm really looking forward to my first Fun-Fly. Sounds like the perfect place to learn a lot about this hobby. I can hardly wait to meet skilled pilots and learn more about setup and radio programming. I'll be the guy with the "I'm a newbie" look on his face.

See you all in a few weeks,

Jim

Hey Catch-Air, you going to bring some gliders? Its a great grass field there.

I’ve done some more thinking on the food question. We’ll bring ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, napkins, paper plate’s, plastic silverware at no cost to you for those that want to cook food on site with our barbeque. That way every thing will be there for hamburgers and hotdogs all you have to bring is meat and buns or what ever you want to cook

Bill I think your right. We need to have the top pilots show up at even the small gatherings. I always try to bring new people to the fun flys by tell them about all these great pilots they will meet and learn from. I also think we can trust in your judgement because some of the best fun flys have been in Tri City area. Thanks and can't wait to see ya all again......

Will anyone have their video camera available? We'll have to get more event pictures and video to remember the event better. I'll bring my HD cam but it isn't the best in the world - nothing like Mark Ryder's, but with a steady hand and some editing video clips are fun to watch. I upload a few video's per month on my Youtube page just because.

See you in the air... in 3 weeks!

I'll have a video camera with me. I've not tried it on moving objects yet but I should be able to capture a flight or two.

Jim, you’re going to meet a bunch of really nice guy’s all willing to help how ever they can. All you have to do is ask and… you’re going to see some nice flying.

Greg, I hope you can make it. That’s a long drive.

Kenny looking forward to working out a tandem flight with you I’ve never tried to do it before. I think it will be fun.

Sam, Allen See has a really nice Sony and he knows how to use it. He learned filming me.He might film you if you ask him.Just remember…keep it in one piece

Alan, If you haven’t done it before filming a heli flight isn’t easy…it's harder than you might think.I tried filming Allen and it was more work than I though.
At least it was for me I'm shure you'll get some thing if you try

I talked to Rob Barett one of the guitar players for the band (Coyote Kings from Wall Walla) again this week and they are looking forward to playing for you all.Youre going to like these guys

See Ya ther

If I could I would like to add my two cents to this as I will be joining with family to come out to this funfly and check out the northwest pilots.

I do know from experience that funfly's in general to me is a chance to spend time with friends meet other pilots and find others in your area to chew the fat with.

With that said I like to burn fuel as the next guy and then burn more fuel when Im done burning fuel I already burned.
But I love to walk around and check everyone's set ups and how they work the hobby in their way and take the ideas into my arena if I like what I see.

Not every person will be happy with something at a funfly and my suggestion to them is remember that its not the only time to fly your heli.
Small funfly's to me are the best too many big shots spoil the fun for me only when they walk around with a god complex.

I hope to meet many great pilots that love to chit chat and allow everyone to be something in this hobby.

Im getting excited for this one but hope its not to big as so that I can burn fuel.

Oh and last thing when I crash I just hope Im not the only one finding my parts.

This hobby sucks, when your not flying.

Greg, that would beat me out for the longest drive. I'll only be about 7 hours.

It'd be cool if you can make the trip. I'll enjoy getting caught up with you.

Hi All,
This is going to be a great fun time at this event. Bill has put alot of planning to make it a fun time for all. The band is going to be a huge plus to a already great weekend. I am looking forward to catching up with friends and making new ones. It is always a benifit to me to learn from others, and watch pilots put thier flying skills on display for all to enjoy.

Othello field is one great flying field, thanks to Gary for letting us have the event on his landing strip.

All the most important people will be there, and sorry for the ones that can't make this event. It will be one for the record books.

Remember fly hard and fast, swerve alot, take chances(keep it safe), keep the heli in one piece, and bring it home.

Important Note: Watch out for the sprinkler heads at the field when parking. Have safe travels to and from the event. Keep the flying safe.

Gravity still works it has not left a heli up there yet.

Hey guys Its Kenny. I think that the center of the feild being reserved is a good idea. Out of all the big events that I have been to that has happened and worked out great. Basically if you got a q you know right where to go.

Anyway uhm Bill looking forward to the tandem flight. Also thanks alot for putting in the effort to get a band together. I have started playing a little but still to embarrassed to play in front of peeps. I have sum good music in mind for our tandem Bill.

I really really really need some new vids. Hope sumone can keep up i like to be LOW and FAST now (lukas riva style). I love to help peeps out in anyway I can so if anyone got q's just come up and ask.

Bill are the sponsord pilots gna need to bring shade or you got a place for the sponsord pilots to pit?

I'll be there with a small HD cam and DSLR covering the event with pics and videos for RC Heli Resource.

Looking forward to Othello, I've always missed this one the past couple years.
