what a great event.the secret to flying in the wind was the unknown flight station

I saw some really great flying and talked with a ton of nice people.man that guy Jared can fly,but A lot of guys were flying well I just didn't get everyones name, what amazed me was the level of flying with the wind, that wind was no joke.saturdays night flights were awesome.and that was some damn good pulled pork, baked potatos were bangin too

also I've been to a bunch of funflys and never won ANYTHING,not even a hat.man I won all kinds of cool stuff, some fuel and a switchglow(which I really need),gift cert.all in all a really great weekend.thanks to everyone who organized it,great job.and good luck ERIC

The Phoenix Flew!!!
I don't know where to start with this, but it was absolutely great seeing everyone after what seemed to be a long winter. Too bad I was in the garage most of the fun fly building the turbine, but it was worth it. She flew on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. What a way to cap off a long weekend of building!!! Watching Jared fly was amazing, I think every one of his blades had grass stains on them about 8 inches in and the night flights were awesome!! Eric is about the best host ever and very generous to open his home up to everyone to come fly, thanks buddy!!!

Now for the fun part and this is what I LOVE about the heli community, so many people were willing to lend a hand to get my turbine completed and in the air. I have never seen this before and I really think it is only in the Heli community where people will freely hand out spare parts, and a spare hand and spare eye to help others get back into the air. We are a rare bunch and I hope we stay that way forever.

I would like to thank everyone for helping with the turbine, and I hope I get all of you in the list below.

Mike - Hootie
James - 1up
Bill - WJackson
Eric - Greenday
Mark Schnieder
The PA Van guys haha James and Rich
I know there are more of you guys but I really can't remember....

A special thanks to
Bob Chapman for selling me my first turbine.
Dave Lewkowitz for letting us use his as a visual reference.
and most of all
Jimmy Middleton for staying with me and chipping in with the build all day Saturday, what a hard charger there. Thanks buddy!!!!
Brent Stock for providing me a bed on site, even though I wasn't in it much I was in the garage building haha. But, dude that sandwich was still awesome THANKS for all of that!!!

I wish I could remember more but I am so tired now!!!

Oh forgot about Irwin and RC Hobbies and More for being the on site shop. He had a great selection of various small parts that I needed to finish her up.

See you all at the next one

What a great event! Eric your the man~! Bill nice job getting and keeping things organized, appreciate all your help. Had a blast, it sure was fun flying the turbulence over that soft grass, it makes such a neat sound when you drag the blades through it

Everyone seemed to have a really GREAT time. I will try to start going through all the pictures from the weekend, there are quite a few lol !

First I'd like to thank all the great people that braved the weather to come fly with us, if you wasn't for you this event would not have been!!!
Second, a BIG thanks goes out to all our sponsors, whom without their support you guys wouldn't have gone home with all those great prizes!!! Make sure you take care of those that take care of us!!!
Third and by no means less important, much appreciation to Eric and Barb for opening up their home and hearts to a bunch of crazy heli pilots flying in 35mph winds and loving it!!
Fourth is to all the others that lent a hand. Pitching in with this or that, food prep and serving, registration,(Andy,Jesse,Wendy, Tommy, Erics Mom and Erics Uncle).
One more special thanks to Jared, Nate, Mark, Wes and A.J. For making the event even better by putting on one helluva show!!!!

Oh, BTW, did anyone get the license number of the truck that apparently ran me over this weekend?!? Dang am I beat!! Lol
RIP Roman

Thanks goes to all those who worked hard to make this event possible.
Wind was definitely good for training and separating men from boys and also pros from amateurs.

It was our first (most likely for others as well) relaxed funfly day of the year. Although Vegas was first, we were pretty tired after the competition rounds to really engage during the funflies.

Now, I have to prepare a plank for Joe Nall 2009.

Hey guys,

Like all of you I'm home and worn out. I had a great time! The event was fantastic and couldn't have been put on by a better host. Eric, thanks for all of your never ending hospitality. Bill, excellent job on your first event. Thanks to Dave for fronting the cash to get this thing going and all of the vendors for all of my great raffle prizes!

It was awesome seeing everyone again! This was my 3rd funfly and its starting to seem like extended family.

I can't wait to see all the video Rich M. took! Thanks to Mark Schneider and his dead eye spotlighting we even got to take some video flying at night without a night gear setup! Awesome job Mark!

Brian, congrats on your Turbine maiden!

I hope everyone made it home safe and we see everyone again soon! Now, if only I can remember everyone's name.

I really like your night shot there with the house and Orion in the background sky.

Did you put that on a stand so it doesn't blur out?

Nice pics! I take it you'll be handing out DVR's at the next event for the garage shots? I'm sure you can sell them for $5 a pop to cover your costs and buy some coolpower with the rest
