i had plenty of practice at crop spreading at the clubs flying site
with a rappy 90
the others moved the cut grass by hand, i used the heli
great fun
at Red Lodge it just was asking to be done

and for the saftey police no-one was near the cut grass when i was flying the heli to move the grass away from the strip

Look forward to seeing it Dave at the next fly in.

Been doing some more work on the Longranger, on Sunday we ripped up the old carpet/felt, cleared all the glue and de greased all the inside.

Tonight we did a bit more, fitted a grey carpet, and cut out the templates to make a cieling and cover the rear wall behind seats in the cream felt.
I have got a miniture plasma screen from a dolls house shop to go in along with some other interior soft furnishings.
But tonight we got the grey carpet in, which was scrounged from a club member who used it to kneel down to his model.. it was the perfect colour and thickness and had a rubber backing..
So i offered to replace it with something else.

After using spray adhesive the carpet fitted well nicely and it adds a touch of class to the rear cockpit.

The next touch will be to line the inside of the doors and line the cieling and add the 2 interior lights.

there is a nice helicopter mag that you should get and have a read
in the latest rotor worldit has MartinBriggs report on the Midland Helicopter Club's scale comp 2011

a scaled down copy in the back of the long ranger is worth an extra point
and you'll need all the extra points this year

Hey Matt, just a quick update to the long saga of getting mechanics... still not here but George has progressed his line up with STATIC ONLY main and tail systems. He's looking into making a flying version of the head. Looks good though, enjoy!

The beatings will continue until morale improves...

HI DK,
Good to hear from you.
Thanks for posting the photos, that is anice scale fuse, I really wish george would do a 1/5th scale, with all his scale detail and other scale add on his fuses would be very hard to beat..

I am well happy with mine being more of a sports scale machine,
it flies beautifully, is so stable in the air, and i get a real buzz out of flying it.

While the weather was cold today spent some more time on the longranger..
Added lining to the doors, the next thing will be to make up some wood brackets and do the cieling which will hide all the wood formers that support the upper mechanics.

I also painted the inside of the doors a beige to match the felt.

Really is looking tidy now

Worked on the front doors last night. and glued in the formers in the upper cowling to fix the roof felt to.

I painted the bottom half of the front door black matt to match the interior stripe that runs round the inside, after it dried it did not look right, so i went down to the dolls house shop and managed to get some light grey carpet/felt.
I decided to use this instead and it does look better, I also managed to find some silver edging in a craft shop, it is perfect for sticking on the join between the felt and painted section, it looks like chrome trim.

we put the cieling foam in tonight, will let the glue dry off and tomorrow will put up the felt.
i am very happy with the interior lights, i have some nice fittings to go on the bulbs that look quiet retro. It really has changed this machine and tidied it up.

could not resist to put up one piece of felt and fit the light.

finished for this evening as it is 00.20 time for sleep

I am making the cocktail cabinet out of wooden ice lolly sticks.

Hi Dave, good reminder,
The weight hasnt changed at all, it is still 16.5 kilo unfueld.
All we have done is add felt which weighs gramms, and just moved existing weight around more evenly.

Where as before i had 2 x 2 nicad packs in the back broom cupboard powering the oil pumps i have moved them forward of the mast now which has helped more with the c of g as i was always slightly tail heavy.
the re wiring we have done was a replacement of existing and just tidied up.

The dolls were replacements of existing ones so no change there, the only thing that has been added is 1 micro switch and 2 dolls house lights, which weigh about 30 gramms each.

It was something i was conciouse about as i have seen models that have been really scaled up and the weight has turned them into a hard model to fly.. on some of the gassers i have seen.

Fortunatly with the Wren i can up the fadec if i needed more power, as i am running at well below 100% power.
