This was my first precision flying event. I flew a TRex500 in the Class I schedule.

Upon arriving at the field on Friday, and seeing the extreme caliber of the helicopters and pilots, I was a bit concerned about how a newbie would fit in. Well my concerns were immediately nullified, what a welcome you all gave me.

Just wanted to thank everyone who attended this event for showing me the ropes, and providing much needed advice. It was a blast.

Thanks especially to Tim, for twisting my arm to finally give this event a shot.

I got home about 10:00PM. I really enjoyed the event and especially meeting the new guys. Y'all now know how much fun we have and how nice the guys are.
I had some issues with my fuselage but that's one of the reasons Tim has this event is to tune up for the NATS and figure out exactly what you need to fix and practice before you get there. I am cutting holes in the fuse for cooling as we speak. It may not be quite as pretty but hopefully it will not overheat.

Hi Gordie,

Yes, that is exactly why we keep doing this event; a friendly and supporting place to recognize challenges in front of judges and improve for the US Nationals.

I think most of us discovered things we want to tweak (or bigger then tweak!).

Fuse looks great (I can see it well unlike my fish head model)and I'm sure you'll get it worked out.

Hi all competitors that had the "inconvenience" of changing fields. The head of the parks department offered an apology. I feel this is sincere and I give them credit for taking responsibility:

Mr. DiPeri,

Thank you for your understanding. I do apologize that you did not get a response in a timely manner. I take full responsibility for that. I would have to attribute any delay to a turn over in the permits section of the department which should not occur in the future.

In the future, I will be happy to personally walk your applications through to ensure you are happy with the results. Rather than work through the Permits Office please send your requests directly to me.

It was indeed a misunderstanding and I sincerely apologize. Please allow me an early opportunity to restore your confidence in the Parks Department.
