If it's the one that came with Align kit, I believe it is the retaining compound, which is not designed for screws. It is designed for holding pinion, bearing and etc on a shaft.

New Castle Creations Castle Link Version 3.241
I'm running a Scorpion 4025-1100 in my Align T-REX 600E with a 16 tooth pinion. I've always gotten the latest Castle Creations Castle Link Software/Firmware from their website whenever one is available. Well, I've recently gotten the new version 3.421 and updated the firmware in my Phoenix HV85 ESC. Now, it's got hardly no power at all! Yes, I re-calibrated my throttle as I'm running this ESC in Heli-Fixed Endpoint mode and haven't changed anything but throttle calibration in the configuration. Has anyone else on this forum here running a Scorpion 4025-1100 along with a CC HV85 or even a 110 run into this issue/problem with the last firmware? Thanks for any and all repies and/or help or, if there is another forum here on RR that deals with CC problems or issues, please let me know where it is. Thanks again.

Chuck, The new firmware is optimized to use govornor mode and for some reason there is an issue with heli fixed endpoints. Switch over to govorned and you'll notice a significant increase in power over the previous govorned firmware editions (per castle)! Castle is finally catching up with their govorned mode to the point that it's now worth it! I've got mine running great at 85% I'm also using a 15T pinion FWIW.

For Scorpion motors load the firmware 2.16. After that set the PWM mode to 8 and the timing to 3. Due NOT use the outrunner mode.

There is no 2.16 did you mean 3.16? The 2.165 is 4 years old.

Ooops...was lookng at castle software not the pheonix software. Your right, could try that. I'm not having problems though running the 3.0 version. Want to try the newer versions but "if it aint broke...don't fix it" keeps coming to mind.

Will try that
Ben-T,

I'll try that man. Right now, I'm ready to try anything to get this thing running...INCLUDING peeing on a live spark plug!
(If need be!) ;D

Wasn't my ESC after all. Was the motor. Motor is new, so, I'll be sending it back.

I know the 4025-1100 is not ideal on an 8s setup, but is anyone running the 4025-1100 on 8s and if so what pinion are you running? I have the 4025-1100 on 6s and 15t in my trex, but curious to see if I can change the pinion out and run an 8s setup with a bit more power than my setup now and about the same flight time.

Flyinrazrback, I am not running 8s on it, but I think towards the beginning of this post another member is, and he was kind enough to post a video. As far as which pinion, try the head speed calc. on readyheli's website, it seems to be spot on every time I've used it.

1100 KV Scorpion motor 6 cell 16 tooth Pinion
A lil clip out side the house. 1st flight testing the Scorpion ESC & Motor out. Bat I was using is a Rhino 20 C 5000. It's 2 years old. I'm hoping to run some 45C bat to find out how it does :-)

How is the 16t holding up? Ive never found the 15t satisfactory, headspeed seems too low to me, cant get the heli to flip on the spot due to the headspeed, wondering if the 16t will destroy lipos or not?

I'm happier with the 16 tooth pinion opposed to the 15. As you mentioned I wasn't ready to settle with the 15 tooth on this motor. I'm going to measure my head speed on Monday since it's gona rain here in Ontario Cali on the weekend. I've a better video clip on the same setup I did today. I pushed it a bit more.(tic tocs, inverted flight) I was very pleased with the results! I ran a 25 C Evo 5000 bat today. I pack came in warm but not hot at all. I hate to use lame terminology as Hot and Cold. But since I didn't use my temp gauge, I'm a victim of loss info :-( Even my speed control and motor came in cooler compared to the Align stock setup on a 15 tooth pinion 6 cell. A few of my friends have been running the 16 tooth 6 cell on this motor for a while and they seem to have no probs beating the batteries! The 25 C 5000 could hold a load of 125 amps and the motors Imax is only 100 amps.

Here's a clip on the stock Align setup. My bat and motor came in extremely HOT!!

I dont understand how you get a 600e on 6s to fly like that, my one struggles to even flip itself over on the same spot its so lame, I cant even do a sideways flip unless its 20 ft up due to how slow it flips over (and the room it takes to flip also).

And if you say its my "collective control" I think Il scream, my collective control is just fine when Im flying my 500.

With my 500, I can flip it over on its own axis a few meters away from myself and a few feet of the ground no probs, but if I tried that with the 600 Ide likely end up eating 600mm blades!

What do you have your throws at on the 600e? Is it maxed out? Just wondering since you flip easier on the 500 :-) Do ya head speed bog when you flip?

Since you guys are pretty experienced with the Scorp motors, I'll run this by you.

I flew a 4025-1100 w/15t in my Logo 500 on 560mm Rotor Techs last year (2300HS) and it was a blast. I will say however that for my skill level (flips, rolls, loops) it's a little bit overkill. I was going to tame down the HS to 2100-2200 with either a 14t pinion and/or lower throttle curve with the 4025-1100 motor.

OR

Buy a 4020-1100 Scorpion or 4020-1000 XERA for the Logo and put the 4025-1100 in my E550 Raptor (a tank in comparison so it's a backup heli) which needs a new motor and maybe could use a little extra power.

Super cool running is also important since it'll be 95 degrees here all summer.

Any suggestions?

Dave, I'm not a pro but Lowering the HS using a pinion sounds like a good plane opposed to lowering the throttle curve by it self. I've heard and experienced that the ESC comes in pretty hot if you lower the throttle curve on your radio and fly on Idle up. Since the pulses from the ESC gets cut into many, it makes the ESC work harder hence heating it up more! I had my 450 pro Thermal shut the other day in 68 degree weather coz of this issue.
