I have my E-flite 20A ESC in my Blade CP. Last night I had a slight blade strike when I was 'skidding' it across concrete floor and it managed to throw a blade into the concrete when a skid caught a corner of the slab. Not a bad hit or anything, took a look a the chunk off te corner of the balsa blades, give her a short spin up and everything was still in one piece. However, I shut it down, disconnected battery. When I reconnected it about 2 minutes later, the ESC would not initialize.

The ESC will beep once indicating power....
Give it two seconds for the gyro to initialize and it beeps again, and again, and again in 1-2 second spaces.
I've attempted to reprogram it, however it wont allow me to finish. It will program the LiPo portion, however it ignores the Brake feature programming and goes back to beeping.
It feels like hte brake is stuck on, even though it should be off. Motor is stiff with or without power applied. Unplug ESC and everything is smooth.

Any ideas guys? I'm at a loss.

I need one of those to fly in my office. Tried to fly my .90 in there but man is my wife pissed now!

Do you mean the motor without any power is some what hard to spin like something is binding? As well as problems with the esc being programed? I am thinking two problems here. Never used that eflite esc but I did have an esc in my blade 400 that caught on fire. I spoke with Eflit's staff and they told me it was over amped! Yes,I did get a replacement but I never had any other esc over amp. I am wondering if you did cause some damage in your esc. I mean if you can't reprogram it then I'd feel it must need to be replaced. I would call Horizon's Eflite department. I have had good luck with them.

In another note, the breaking feature I have seen working and it quickly applys breaking force when you back off the throttle. It is only functioning momentarily. Is this what you mean by the break being applied?

Well... I just don't really know much about the brake, but as long as the ESC is plugged into the motor, there is considerable resistance in the drivetrain. Enough to stop my spinning it in less than a single rotation.

Its not binding, its all in the motor, which I believe is fine, its just getting signals from the ESC.

Sounds like the strike has caused some damage to the esc. Short! Sounds logical per reading of post.

I wish I still flew!!!

Yeah, it more than likely is, which is retarded, it was a virtually harmless event. I talked to Horizon today and they want me to send it in. Kinda PO'd about it all, I only had the thing a week.

I am glad I am not the only one having bad luck with the e-flite 20 amp esc....! The first on I had they told me to send to them and they sent me a new one and I just got it on the other night and had it running on my work bench (kitchen table) and cut it off and tonight hooked it up after treeking the tail boom that was loose and not it will not arm up. When I give it throtle it jerks a bit and then nothing.... I am calling Horizon AGAIN for the hundredth time.....are all there electronics junk or just my bad luck?!
