I am once again crossing over to the darkside. I have always been a NiCad flyer and now am intrested in Ion power.

I will have 4 8717's and 1 8900g.

I was looking at the Relion 2600 and the Sahara regulator.

Will this provide good reliable power? Also I understand the Gyro+tail servo are to be at 4.8 volts. If the regulator was set at say 5.2 like a fully charged 4.8 pack would it be safe enough to say that the gyro and servo would be happy?

thanks, marty

I don't think a 2S1P Li-Ion is ideal for high current applications like a pack of 8717, due to the high impedance of Li-Ion cells. A 5200 2s2p Li-Ion would be better, or go lipo

I done a bit more reading and I understand what your saying. I will go with the larger pack.

I would also think the 5200 should supply a day of flying too.

thank you.

5200 Relion will go 8-10 flights easy, and with a 2P config, handles the amp draw.
I am running 2600 Relion on my 50 size birds, but they are running HS6965 rather than 8717
