not much info is available but there is a new outrunner motor, chinese weight tail grips.

just hope it will use 350mm blades and use upto 6s like the current batch of 450's.

If there really smart they will make some compatibility with the Se V2 at least. I have problems with the tail slipping out in hard 3d moves. I want that torque tube on my se v2. Heck, I'd even pay good $$$ for an upgrade kit instead of spending the full bill for the v3. If I go to the 500 I loose the small field flyability and have to pay for new packs. Way too much money when I'm looking at the 700 next year.

I really like some of the improvements they have made. Once piece frames, one piece landing gear, beffy anti rotation bracket even though I wish they would have done away with it, no bottom plate to brake, torque tube. I also really like how the tail servo is mounted, much different than in the past. It looks to me like the motor is an inrunner. Just wish we had a release date.

It's a complex, costly, glow powered anti-gravity machine!

I think it was posted somewhere else that the motor in the pics is not the new outrunner.

Appears they fixed the tail grips so there's no need for the chinese weight mod. That's nice.

All of Align's motors are out runners. They just stick them inside a can for some reason. I would be happy if the esc gave you the option of a higher cell lipo, Like a 4s or even a 6s.

Good - hex screws in most places
Good - tail servo well protected
Bad - cross head screws still in the flybar control arms
Bad - Can't reach the Rx easily to insert/pull bind plug
Bad - I may be wrong put there doesn't look like much room to insert a 6S LiPo (or maybe a 4S one even)
Bad - Again I may be wrong, but no 350 mm blades (to optimise would require more than just extending the boom and belt)
Bad - TT (nothing wrong with a belt that is lubed with Si)

umm, doesn't that make them inrunners? forgive my ignorance with the inner guts of b/l motors but if the can rotates, its an outrunner correct?

In an outrunner, the stator(armature w/poles) rotates AROUND the windings. In an inrunner, the stator is rotates WITHIN the windings. The Align motor here looks to be built like their other 450 size motors, which are just outrunners inside of a stationary can.

Outrunners - The spindle is driven by the magnets which spin.

The can on the Align motors is just to stop stray objects such as servo/ESC wires getting caught by the spinning can, and it obstructs flow of cooling air.

Wow they really did get some great improvements going on in this latest revision! Looks like Jason Krause had some influence on the main rotor design, the metal rotor housing and main grips are very synergy-esque. Only gripe is that the main blades are still trailing edge control! UGH... Oh well, I hope the upgrades will be compatible with V2 kits...

I don't like the head of my V2 and was thinking of going with a Kasama Head, but do you guys think that the v3 head will be a drop in for the v2 Heli and will it be worth waiting for?

Visually the shaft looks thinker than the v2. I do not see the lock ring above the bearing.
