I like that design Benny. It allows for the 3D fliers and the forward flight guys to all get along in the same area. The pattern flying may be distracting to the 3D guys and of course the distance out for the pattern may be a bit intimidating to those new as well.

thoughts?

Wayne, do the end stations have open area to the side or is there a tree line to deal with? Hurlock had the open areas to the sides which was nice.

I don't remember it being as small as everyone is saying There is open area to the left of the last flight line if I recall, to the right is a tree line and the restrooms. It will be just fine though, Wayne runs a good funfly and if we need to change it from 7 to 6 stations to give everyone a little elbow room I'm sure it will be done

I'm glad someone sees what I was talking about. I by NO means want to say that this is a bad fun fly at all. Just the opposite. It's a great event with great folks. Most of the guys I talked with said that the best place was beside the corn field....that way you had all of that space to the left of the station. The concensus of most of the pilots that I talked with said that maybe 1 or 2 less flying stations would remedy the airspace issue. Also, guys that are used to doing things right in front of themselves should not have a problem. I have a tendency to go left to right and vice versa. I just get a little un-nerved when I can clearly see another pilots heli 3ding like crazy while I'm flying.....and it's not out of the corner of my eye.
Like I said....I'm not downing this event AT ALL. I had a fabulous time....even though it was hotter than hell last year. Anyone that has a remote chance of attending should by all means go.

PLUS!!! there is a dedicated area for novice pilots for setup and practicing the basics. I have yet to attend a fun fly event for heli's that takes as much into consideration for the new group of pilots than the MHA club. Every year you can leave with something new learned or earned from the raffles.

Go Gators!!

edit: jrzboy... see you edited your post above and took out the Club's regular field address... cool
------------------------------------

^^^ That is the address to the Club's normal field. The event is not there, it is at a State Park.

Here is what Wayne published last year:

Benny,
You can rest assured that you as well invaded others airspace. From my flight staion I was looking straight out at your bird. Lol On the same token, I probably did it to others as well.
That's our Bill! If I recall correctly he was calling out my flightline violations on phoenix sim in the camper at HeliFun! Such a stickler for the violations!

Pilots with RV's and trailers:

If you are going to show up tonight or Thursday, please call me at 410-451-2336 so I can tell you how to get in!

Also! PLEASE! Park all the campers and trailers straight in, not parallel with the flight line! We want to leave as much space as possible for as many pilots and campers, and putting your rigs straight in will help everyone have more space!

This does not apply to those campers with tents who go to home depot and buy an air conditioner.

And Thursday there is rumor of a contest to see how many RC heli pilots it takes to change one flat tire....

thank you!
