Hey all,

While I wait for the cable I ordered to come in, I'm trying to make my own adaptor to work with the Phoenix adaptor. The Phoenix adaptor is a (whats looks like) a stereo 1/8 inch male plug. I'm a musician and I use stereo cables all the time, and they have 3 wires.

The mini-din cable that comes from my transmitter is a 4pin mini-din with 4 wires. Is there a way to splice these and make it work? The cable that I ordered for this to work properly, is exactly that; A female 1/8 to 4pin mini-din.

Any help is appreciated.

as long as two of the wires on the 4 pin mini din plug are ground then yes, tie all grounds together, then wire the other two where they need to be. musician here also, ken

You will find that just because it has a four pin din plug does not mean it uses four wires.
The Futaba trainer socket has a six pin din but still only uses two wires, I have made up plenty of cables for Futaba but not sure what one you are using.
If you let me know what type of radio you have I can see if I have one and can tell you what two wires you need to connect.
I have half a dozen or more radios that I can test and find out what pins actually do anything.

The radio I am trying is use is from the Exceed RC Falcon 40. The transmitter just says Exceed RC on it, no model number.

The mini-din plug (that you connect to the back of the transmitter) has 4 wires. Red, White, Green and Black

The female 1/8 inch stereo I bought, has 3 wires. Black, Red, and one bare wire outside the other 2. So 3 total.

How would I splice them. What 4 from the mini-din, into the 3 1/8 inch

the bare wire on the 1/8 plug is shield/ground, you may have to open the back of the radio and see what goes where, but like Footey says, most radios only use two wires regardless how many pins or wires there are

Hmmmm not sure if I can help you with that radio, I have a bunch of different ones in my shop but none the same as that.

You may be able to messure some signal or voltage out of the socket on the radio and work out what two wires you need. You will need to enable the trainer mode or something to find out.

Good Luck
