I put my vibe back together after the infamous tail hub explosion and I just kept eyeballing the head like, "that thing is asking to go flybarless!!!!" I couldn't resist. I have already been in the process of converting my 500Esp to FBL, going with the Mikado system on that one. I went over to Aero Hobbies and picked up the Skookum system that Andy had sitting in the case. I looked at the head and figured that It had all of the correct geometry so I went for it. 1 hour later and a pile of flybar crap later, I had the head ready. I used some JR extended ball links(14mm) with a spacer, stock grips, Trex 600 washout base(didn't want to mod the factory piece), and trex 500 mixing arms with trex 600 plastic angle arms. In went the skookum, mounted nice and neat on the front lower tray, with the receiver turned sideways to make room. I used the software to program the trims and limits, and I also used the A4 channel to make switchable banks. The first flight was scary, because I still had trim in the radio (not good), wanted to tip over so I landed it and went back to the setup screen. Got her all leveled and trim, went out for another test, it worked!! I had to land it because my heart was beating so fast I got dizzy!! But all in all, using the factory 3d settings, and a bit wilder setup on bank 2, this Vibe with no flybar has to be one of if not the best and most smooth flying heli on the market. I didn't even hear the hum anymore with the K&BDD 84.5mm tails(made for mikado logo). I am using Align 610 servos, Solid G with the 8900g, Radix blades w/Os .50 hyper. Perfect 10. I would recommend this conversion to anyone.

Welcome to the new dimension of flight “Flybarless”

I warn you that you will hate Flybars and you will spend on FBL Systems for all the rest of your fleet....

You will be an addict….

You are so very correct. I wasn't even supposed to convert this heli, I was supposed to order my V-Stabi for my 500ESP, but since I like the vibe more I snuck out to get the Sk360. Best heli related purchase yet. Hands down.

I hate these FBL posts. I've completely avoided this because its seems so complicated as far as the software program setup goes and it makes me feel like I'm being left in the dust. I guess its only a matter of time but then I have to catch up to you guys.

Vbar is not that complicated. The learning curve is a little steep at first, but just like anything else, if you take your time to understand it, it's not that bad. I personally like having all of the extra programming options with vbar.

That would mean he has to go back to nitro's first. But, I'm sure that won't be long. My money says it'll be right after the first crash where he crumples $600 worth of batteries

Maybe this is going a little off topic but I finally can understand someone switching to electric (like inky).

My FBL vibe is great. Behaves like a 90 sized nitro bird. Nice power and super agility HOWEVER... after seeing a Mikado 600 FBL 10S 4Amp with a 4000W+ skorpion motor and a Jazz 120... bah... the vibe (or any other nitro bird out there) looks like an old grandma taking a walk in the park.

It really gets depressing walking to the flight line after seeing that bird fly. I swear I could see a thermic shock wave when that thing took off

Nitros are for pussies and I'm one of them

I went to the field today and CJYoungblood team pilot Anthony Jager helped me with a few tweaks to the radio and we figured the extensions on the grips were out too far, so I removed the 2 spacers when I got home, which moved them back in to about 31mm, which is still too much. I will go purchase some shorter extensions, I have 14mm now, and I will get a set of 10mm and 12mm, try them both out to find the perfect length. The problem was a dead feeling in the center of the stick, do to the loss of too much resolution. It doesn't feel terrible, but when he tried to do some crack moves, it was lacking in speed. Nothing but a small fix and I will be doing some more testing tomorrow. I had him do some fast and slow heavy piroflipping maneuvers and the Skookum was holding its own. Anthony flies the V-Stabi on a logo 600, so he knows that system very well, and he says that he is very impressed with the Skookum system. If anyone has anymore hot 3d setups for the vibe, please post your numbers. I want to make my no2 bank very wild, and the no1 bank more stable, and wind resistant. I will post more pics of the head geometry tomorrow after I get the extra extensions. Anyone know where I could get a carbon boom for the vibe? It is extremely tail-heavy and the Skookum prefers slightly nose heavy. I don't know where to move the weight around enough to change the balance.
And about that Mikado comment...You are so right, when Anthony flies his 600 Logo FBL, it makes sounds and noises that are simply alien. But after watching the vibe move, I don't think its too far behind the logo, and my $27.99 bottle of fuel is a helluva lot cheaper than those $600 10s flightpower packs. Taco one of those and you will definatly cry.

Some friends and I tried that original conversion but seem fragile, we were losing tracking all the time. We ended with a Mikado Head.
