Mechanics
They are Graupner/Heim mechanics. They were for 60 size scale fuselage models, you can still get parts for them and for scale bodys they are ideal.
The engine was a normal aircraft round head with a large bolt on cooling head that became the front mounting bracket into the fuzz.

Thankyou Russ
That sounds correct as the mount didnt seem to have anyway of attaching the front to the fuselage. Would anyone know where a supplier of parts may be. Id be greatful for any help.

budde,

You may also want to check with V-East in Florida. The link is:

http://www.v-eastonline.com/index.html

You can find drawings for that mechanic here:

I just purchased a Graupner Bell 222 with the same mechanics and am beginning the same thing. My mechanics have "Vario" molded on the blade grips. Maybe they were replaced, or maybe Graupner used Vario blade grips. I don't know yet.

I am fairly certain that Vario might have bought Heim out at some point because one of my vintage helis (Vario Starlight) used these mechanics (Heim profi).
Maybe someone can confirm? I do know Vario do white frames that fit these mechanics with lugs at the front, doing away with the need for the alloy cooling head.

Graupner used a heat sink head with lugs for the front mount.

You can simply order the Vario frames and they will have the same mounting points. Russ you are right about the white of black frame. I have a Bell 47G from Vario that has the old frames with the fiberglass cooling tunnel.

Vario did not buy out helm. Vario started as upgrades for Heim.

I had a starlight also.

I have all of the original books from Vario going back 25 years and it showed the upgrades to the Graupner mechanics.

PM me and I can walk you through all of the parts you need for this easy conversion.

I also have the graupner parts for what you need .

I have the same mechanics set made by Robbe. Vario shares many if not all of the parts available. I purchase this kit with the fuselage years ago and never finished the build.

I hate when that happens
