I have had great success with AGV AntiVirus. You can download it for free online. The best part is that it updates constantly to give you the best most up to date anti-virus program. Much better than Nortan and McAfee combines IMHO

It's a complex, costly, glow powered anti-gravity machine!

AVG and Avast! seem to be the best. Don't have first hand experience with AVG, only with Avast, but they both seem to be the best, and free. Pick one and be done with it.

The commercial ones are pretty much all bloated and totally worthless. If it says "Symantec" anywhere on the package, run very fast and very far.

I would also run a good Malware remover

Here are two good ones for free:

Here's where you can download it:

and

Super Antispyware

Use the home version it free:

On my desktop I'm running Avast for antivirus, and Comodo Firewall Pro also. Comodo seems to be very safe (asks you if you want to allow progams to do anything all the time though).

No experience with others mentioned.

Have been using Spybot & Ad Aware for 5 years straight here and no problems at all. You do have to pay for Ad Aware. Spybot is free.

I've used norton and it was not too bad, but now with vista I'm using viper antivirus along with malwarebytes antimalware and things are pretty solid.

For the most part you can find almost any software for mac that you can for PC. But if you have PC specific software all you have to do is BootCamp your mac and install a copy of XP on it to run those programs. I am personaly doing this with mine but I make sure that the Internet/Network is disabled since you can still infect the hard drive with viruses.
