I tried to weigh mine at first on a set of bathroom scales but not very accurate - said between 7 and 8 lbs.

Now I've flown it, I don't care what the weight is cos it's brilliant.

I've had Raptors and T-rex 600N's all with Hypers, my Vibe has a Hyper which is still new fitted with Hatori 522 and even running rich, it is faster than my 600N by some way (I don't understand it, power to weight etc... but it is).

There are many differences in the way it flies (all good), but tracking and pitch response are the biggest things I've noticed, in the process of re-learning all my moves because my timing was way off.

I've got 2 Vibe 50's and both weigh 3.72 kilo's. I've done a heck of a lot of work with different components to get the balance and COG just right, and now (to me at least) they're absolutely perfect.

Here's a theory... a heli in forward flight is like a cart rolling down a ramp.... the ramp is just always rising to the heli maintains altitude. Two carts will roll down the ramp at the same rate/acceleration... in a vaccuum. In the atmoshpere, their speeds are affected by their sectional densities (weight divided by sectional area). The one with the higher sectional density will roll faster due to better penetration due to extra force (F=MA) and less drag exterted by the atmosphere).

So... the Vibe should be faster because it is HEAVIER and SKINNIER.

Luckily, it also 3D's brilliantly!

I don't know the weight, but without the flybar it flies like it's on crack, feels like 3lbs.

I wouldn't say that

Remember that I had a spartan on it before (your was a solid-G?) and also keep in mind that my previous head had metal mixing arms and metal head button. Paddles were Vs (at 14.9gr each).

I saved 100gr when I moved to FBL but you could have saved between 80gr and 120gr.

You should weight yours again

It kills me that guys are fretting over 80g when the fuel adds 400g. After 1.5 minutes that 80g is gone in fuel burn. It's like, "I'd like 64 calories of Guiness."

I'm never gonna weigh mine. It's too beautiful and flies FAR to well to go weighing and inadvertently giving it bulimia or anorexia. I still don't understand why someone would put flybarless on this heli either. I'm putting a Vibe head on my TRex instead of going flybarless on it. Should be SWEET!!!!

Anyway, just one guy's opinions

JJ,

Yours is probably heavier because of:
1) 8717 throttle servo
2) G773D Gyro (vice spartan)
3) Arizona reg (I'm pretty sure it's heavier than others)
4) 3000 battery pack

I wouldn't care though. I am running an Arizona KIWI and an A123 battery (fairly heavy) and needed them to balance the heli.

Cheers!

You're right. Weight doesn't matter. After seeing a Mikado 600 on 10S with a vbar... our nitro machines (whatever the brand) are a joke compared to that. I feel almost ashamed. And they all look like kiddy toys regardless if they weight 3300gr or 3900gr.

@JJ-TREX450:

You have several components that are a little heavier and all together it just adds up. I have a 7gr servo on throttle. Yours is 69gr (62gr diff right there). My lipo is a 2100mAh (98gr). Yours is a 3000gr which is around 160gr. Thats another 62gr, etc etc etc.

Oh and a header tank weights only 58gr but if you count the extra 2 oz of fuel it takes and barely gets used... thats another 52gr that you're carrying around. etc etc

@Sillyness:

What would you say if you knew that I fight over 5gr sometimes?

Tony
