I have the stock gyro but I'm using spektrums DSP75 for the rudder. Servo has been programed for the rudder. Every once in awhile when I try to use the rudder, I'll get no response. 95% of the time it works just fine. Is this normal as the gyro may have been working against the wind? Thanks.

Could be a stripped servo. If one of the teeth is missing, it would act like your describing. It's happened to me, so check the servo.

thanks for the reply. It's not the gears. I opened it up and all look fine. One thing I've noticed, once I connect the battery, after about 15 seconds the tail rotor blades slowly max out to the right ( slide moves toward the rotors.) But once I spool up and hover, it stays relatively locked in. Turning to the left is very rapid however, when I turn the nose toward the right, the tail moves slow. In some cases as mentioned above, I won't get any kind of response out of it. Is there anyway to ENSURE that my servo is centered? I guess I could bypass the gyro. Also, does the servo range of motion need to be so that at opposite extremes, the slider stops on the shaft before forced? It would make sense but it may not matter hense the question. Mechanical fix? Thanks agian.

i had the same problem with my eflite gyro the higher you turned the up the gain the more it wants to drift the manual says you may have to make small trim changes in flight i might be wrong but i thought if you moved the tail rotor trim in flight on a h.h. gyro all hell is gonna break loose. i had an extra 401 gyro and put it on and it worked great for a while then the spektrum dsp75 servo laid down i would not recomend using this servo on the tail because it will get weak. the best thing i can recomend is a better gyro/servo upgrade the little heli is worth the investment good luck.

I found the problem. As I'm still new to this heli side of the hobby, there are a few things I overlooked. In the GYRO setting on the 6i I had two HH values. Below 50 is RATE while above is HH. I had 75 and 90. Having two HH values will confuse the gyro. Also, the constant slide on the tail shaft is from using trim. Make sure all values in the radio are zeroized to include sub trim and regular trim. These two fixes gave me complete control. Unfortunately, not more than 30 minutes after the fix, my tail servo stopped working all together. Found two broken wires inside. ALSO, may have been a cause however, I doubt it cuz the fix was instantly noticeable and the servo went out rather quickly. Hope this helps others like myself.

your 2 values are for 2 modes of flight. the first setting is for normal flight, the second is for stunt mode. 2 different values are for different flight styles. normal mode for liftoff and landings, stunt mode for sport to 3d flying. i believe your problem was your servo, not the settings in the gyro.

ten grand in helis and all i can do is hover

As it was explained to me, the GYRO setting in the radio has nothing to do w/ the two different flight modes. Setting up the gyro in Rate mode and Heading Hold is what the values are for. When you switch between Normal flight mode and Sport flight mode, the arrow in the GYRO setting does not change. It stays in whichever mode you were previously in. I understand what your saying but I don't believe this to be true in this instance. Thanks however.
