I was undecided between the 611/9256 combo and the 520/bls251 combo. I could not wait for the 520 to come out in March or whenever and went with the 611. If your patient or building a new heli when they are available I am sure it will be a great gyro.

Spartan and DS620 combo user here... rock solid also. I hope the 520 can compete with the rest. We will find out come March, just in time for the Vegas FunFly. I'll be there..

What about the new Mini G?
Yes it is now available and some already have it! Wonder which will be better on my new TREX 500 w/ S9257?

Come on Futaba....release the GY520 before I have to buy the new Mini G!

Kyle Stacy won the 2009 E-Fest Heli Smack Down using the 520 gyro. He thought it was great in the Furion. He is flying it in his Stratus next.

Kyle got the 520 on Friday morning. Immediately found out that he had a bad TR servo, replaced it with a 9257. I had a chance to fly back to back, my Furion with 401 and Furion with 520. Man what a difference. The 520 is much more solid and holds better even with my limited capabilites.
Talked with some and the 520 is supposed to be shipping to Great Planes by the middle of March. Then who knows how long. Heard there are MANY on backorder throughout the world and the first batch to the US will go quick, probably to dealers and modelers (thru Tower) who already have them on backorder. Not even a guarantee that all of those will be filled with the first shipment.

And now with BLS254 or BLS257 servo. Maybe Tower has a lot of old servos they need to get rid of and you won't be able to get a brushless combo like the 611/BLS251.

GY520
Anyone know if the GY520 is firmware upgradeable by the user via a download if the code is ever changed in the future?

It would be nice to see a manual online on how to use it!

All indications are that will be the case. Unlike any Futaba Gyro before the GY520 will have a USB PC interface adapter.

The price for the GY520 + BLS Servo is about $355 without VAT + CIU-2
Andika - what's up with the mad face? If you can't afford it don't buy it. Futaba is not a charity.
