Yup . . . . BIOS only supports standard AT / PS2 keyboards . . . . no USB

. . . . now if there was a wireless version of a PS2 keyboard . . . .

. . . . but there isn't . . . .
Depends on the BIOS - many have USB keyboard support. Sometimes there is an option in the BIOS to enable/disable USB keyboard support. I'm typing this from a wireless USB keyboard which does work with the BIOS. It's an older Microsoft wireless keyboard and although it ships with drivers, those are just to enable the multimedia keys - the basic keyboard function works in the BIOS without drivers.

Memorex used to make a PS/2 wireless keyboard/mouse combo. You can't get them new anymore (I tried recently as my old one broke down), but you might be able to find one used.

the newer motherboards have a windows program that allows you to change the bios,it is used for overclocking and things like that.
My Asus Crosshair motherboard has it and i installed windows with the Logitech USB mouse and keyboard installed from the begining.

Only the newest ones.
I was including the dark ages, as much as 20 years.
I still have some 15 & 20 years old
. . . . still working . . . .

Yeah, it's pretty hard to write BIOS support for something that wont be invented for another 10 years or so

What do you have on that 20 year old motherboard? Wasn't that about the 286 era?

I should have been more precise Most motherboards that have USB on board tend to have a BIOS with USB keyboard support - how's that?

That's better but usb kbd support really took a loooong time to get into BIOS and there still are a majority of boards that don't have it.
