I am just going over the manual for my SK360, it states here that if you are running a heli with a belt drive tailrotor system to ground the boom, to help elminate the static discharge that can disturb the gyro.

Has anyone had this happen yet????

I am putting it on a Logo10 and I dont have the boom grounded,I have never notice any discharge disturbance as of yet.

Thanks in adavance

Curtis

Yes it can happen on any electric device, large enough discharge and Zap...

So, ground the boom, its a simple, cheap mod and it wont take long.

The issue is that the tail-belt arrangement of an r/c heli bears a lot of similarity to one of these:

...which can build up thousands of volts, enough to spark right through the insulation on your heli's wiring. Silicon chips are normally protected against static discharges to some degree, but there's a limit.

Safety-wise, its a good idea to do, but I get zero static on my FBL Razor. I checked it with a Circuit Alert.
