Just been reading this article. The range to transmit power is limited right now but I'm thinking the brains in this world could develop this to transmitt the power far enough for our electric helis to fly all day from a generator on the ground - interesting!!!

...Wireless electricity could allow businesses to use one multiple source to power all appliances, experts say.

Eric Giler, president and CEO of WiTricity, said that wireless power will benefit businesses and consumers with increased efficiency and freedom.

"Laptop batteries are always burning out and always need a charge. What we did was build a coil into a standard laptop computer and it gets its source from behind a wall in your office.

"You could move them around the room and the laptop will continue to charge," he explained.

Leggett & Platt have partnered with Fulton Innovation to redefine how business is done, by creating mobile workspace.

According to MIT, various methods of transmitting power wirelessly have been known for centuries.

The institute was able to light a 60W light bulb from a power source seven feet (more than two metres) away; there was no physical connection between the source and the appliance.

Sounds like what Tesla did 126 years ago
The SI unit measuring magnetic flux density or magnetic induction (commonly known as the magnetic field B), the tesla, was named in his honour (at the Conférence Générale des Poids et Mesures, Paris, 1960), as well as the Tesla effect of wireless energy transfer to wirelessly power electronic devices which Tesla demonstrated on a low scale (lightbulbs) as early as 1893 and aspired to use for the intercontinental transmission of industrial energy levels in his unfinished Wardenclyffe Tower project.
