Is an updated version for the 700N due... cause I am looking into getting one but not sure if they'll be releasing a V2 soon or not?

There is nothing to upgrade except for those crappy button head screws.

it's not so much for the upgrade more so to correct all the problems that ppl have been experiencing such as main gear, boom becoming loose w/ vibration, stripped screws etc. etc.

Agreed, no need for a V2, the actual design of the machine works perfectly, but, some parts need to be improved, not the heli itself. Now Align have released the new gear I am sure the other few problems will be addressed too.

The only problems I am aware of are as follows.

Ball links - fixed
Main gear - new one coming out shortly but I believe that the people having the problems live in very cold climates. People like myself living in warmer temps have not had problems. Their is already aftermarket main gears available now.

Boom twisting - drill a small hole in boom clamp/boom and put a bolt through it. Fixed

Screws - huge problem nothing yet on this one as far as I know. If you build the kit, I would skip the locktite on the shouldered bolts. That is of course if you want to ever get them out.

Me personally, over a 100 flights and the only problem I have had was the boom twisting (see fix above) and removing the shoulder bolts. Been an extremely reliable heli and suprisingly, not too much slop so far.

Tail drive pinion to tail drive ring gear on autohub, way too much gear lash.

Clutch stack bearings start to oval the holes out in the plastic housing, causing the whole stack to become sloppy.

You fly RC helicopters? Can I have a ride?

Align doesn't release a V2 to fix running issues like those, the newer kits are updated with the latest parts automatically.

That is correct Align will just add the -1, -2, -3 and etc of a part to correct problems.

They are however still pending the release of the heli with the motor. It is on their site but not obtainable yet. Glad I didn't hold my breath on that one!!

Buy the 700 it is such a great flying heli! Don't use a lot of thread lock on the collar shaft screws though.

curious how are the booms twisting? Its keyed in the front and in the rear the vertical fin has the black doweled backing piece that also locks it in place. I've never seen one twist.

Nor have I ????

Arnt all the probs sorted.I have had one issue with the one way beaing when starting and thats it.

But if you add up all the people that are having issues what % do you think they represent considering how many 700's have been sold

No need to wait for a V2,jump on and buy one

I have not heard of the booms "twisting". Some booms are not straight and you simply file the slot at the front 1 or 2 mm to ensure the tail fin is vertical, sorted. Booms get pinned at the front to ensure they do not pull out in hard manouveres as some reported early on. But, if you roughen the boom at the front it's a very tight fit anyway.

I pinned my boom with a screw, then took the other half of the gear housing off, sadly to see that it hadent grabbed that plastic ridge as it should.. even realy felt like it did but no.. the tube is soo weak..

gona pin em all..

and its not perfect.. gears, clutches and poor gear mesh..
Align isnt saying a squat and if they are.. they just say.. blabla.. we got loads of em flying.. still doesnt help the once that dont fly...

Is that twisted out of the box, (the slot at the front made incorrectly) or has it twisted in flight?

Not very well "Aligned" is it?

Good bang-for-your-buck heli no doubt, but you get what you pay for.

twisted in flight.
This heli is not my machine but mine did the same thing and this pic was already in my photo cache.

I put a servo screw in mine to prevent it again.

That is my buddy Rockahaulic. His was mis drilled out of the factory NOT in flight. Mine was the same way on both booms in the kit.

If you guys didnt run 150atv on your piro rate it would probably stay in place..

The only reason "booms" are twisting is they are being spun so hard the force makes them slide far enough back to come off its guide peg. Then when it slides out enough, it twists.
