Hey Guys

I was waiting to post these until I could get some more flights on this machine so I could comment on that a bit more but the weather is extremely cold so that's gonna have to wait...

I found a source of binding in the head, the washout arms need to have some material removed from their "y" to allow for more positive pitch.

My setup:

Stock Carbon Fiber version
Stock Gaui 50A ESC and stock motor
Hyperion 3300 Litestorm VX 3S
Gaui 5.8V ESC
Hyperion DS20 servos
Gaui 210 Gyro w/ DS20GMD
Futaba 617 FASST
RCP 500 Carbons, stock tails for now

I found this heli really lends itself to a clean wiring install, I really liked that. Ton's of space for all of your electronics.

I'll try to get a video on here at somepoint!

Right now I have the 15t pinion, seems to have plenty of power. Haven't had much chance to really bang on it yet though...time (and warm weather!) will tell

what other gears are you using? i use 15T/20T/50T/61T which gives me 2162 w/ Z30 @90%

Rotor, with your motor and gearing setup, do you still have plenty of power? Does it bog at all? What are your max pitches? I just purchased a 550 and I have a Z30 but I have not decided on gearing yet, that's why I asked you those questions. Thanks

that gear combo works great for 500mm blades.

Off set on servo arms
I noticed you did not put any offset in the ball locations on the cyclic servo arms like I saw in Finless videos. I was wondering how important this is, or is not. Can you or anyone comment for me since I am new to all of this and I will begin my 550 build in a few weeks...Thanks. P.S. I am NOT in to 3d yet. Just flat circuit flying for me...

i've seen them built both ways. i advise the offset wheels to coincide with the offset on the levers. i believe if you don't it messes up the geometry. or....you can use the cnc gaui levers and use servo horns like you see here.

Hey guys

Well I'm starting to have better luck with this heli. I put a different gyro on it and actually got to bang it around some this morning

With the stock gearing and the 15t pinion, the heli has plenty of power... it will pull through maneuvers well. Doesn't accelerate overly fast but it has pop when you need it. I did notice, however, that the motor (stock) gets pretty hot after a 4ish minute flight. I'll know if I can fly longer than that after I charge next time...anyways, I will probably be experimenting with my gear ratios to see if I can get the motor to cool down without sacrificing too much power or headspeed.

With my current head setup (see pics) the cyclics are pretty slow, I may try some different paddles. I moved the balls on the washout arms in a hole to avoid binding, which is likely another cause of the cyclic speed. I don't know if you guys had similar binding problems with the balls in the outer holes?
