I believe it would be closer to $250-300 if it was a carbon pipe.

They can't make them out of the carbon you are use to,it is made from a carbon sock thats a thick weave. One reason they are so long is they are tuned for a low RPM 10,000 RPM.

The carbon isn't the problem the resin is. I have a lot of experience in pattern planes that use the carbon tuned pipes you speak of and all are in pipe tunnels where air flows over the pipe for cooling.

They do not last forever either. They always show signs of wear up at the header coupling and at the baffle. That is where the heat builds.

The resin is what can not take the heat long term.

On a heli the problem would be worse. Less airflow at times and not worth the benefits verses the cost. The ONLY benefit is weight and the detrement is lifespan, cost, reliability, safety and O'yeah cost

I think I'll just stick with aluminum.
