Is JR insane trying to push off the Vibe 500e for $700? This will be one sweet bird that will go the way of the dodo bird Parkmite.. Yeah, we all remember that blinged out "blade CP" for $500. I thought some reason of sanity came into JR when they brought out the Vibe 50, a great heli that is reasonably priced. Now they disappoint me. Oh well as long as I have my Vibe 50.

yes its way overpriced, i considered getting one.. but not for that price, my trex 450 will be fine thanks. the whole thing RTF cos about the same as that kit

if i was going to spend that sort of money on a kit it would be another vibe 50, or afew pennys more and i could get an aurora...

I talked to Horizon at the AMA Show about the 500E pricing. Tehir answer was, they are not trying to compete on price. They know they make a better heli, and they kow that people will buy it, and so that is the price.

The dollar -> yen drop isn't helping either.

This guy didn't even give you a good answer, he just danced around it. Beacuse he knows the price point for the model is way off. The 500E pricing is even out of line with their other models.

JR has always been way high. that is rediculous for a 500 class heli. there's rumors going around that the new 90 is going to be 1299.00 which is high also when most manufacturers are releasing 90's under 1000.00.

Hirobo Turbulance?

Basically, buy it or not. JR will be happy or not. I figure a number of people will buy them and enjoy them. A bunch of people will whine about the price and niver find out how nice they are.

If that pricing is accurate, then it is very disappointing. Especially if it's an indication of the SG price point.
JR will always be a premium product and is priced accordingly, but as said, the Vibe 50 is not much more than its competitors, and it has gained popularity because of that. JR have a great opportunity to get more product out there with this heli for the EP fliers and the SG for the 90 nitro guys. If this is how they want to play, then they are probably going to struggle to sell heaps. Many people don't see the price-quality correlation, and when you can get pretty reasonable quality but much cheaper helis, which way will the majority take? And smaller production runs equals expensive parts, and so JR stay where they are with people fearful of owning/crashing a JR heli due to the high cost of both. Something needs to change, more people deserve the chance to fly JR!!!

I agree.. to the people who have not owned a JR Heli (or anything JR for that matter), they may have a hard time relating the $$ to what they are buying. There is enough info on the net pointing out that Align provides a nice product for the money. Its a slight step down in quality but a hugh jump down in price. So where do you draw the line? A $1300 Vibe 90SG can be justifiable to the people buying it because chances are they are at the level of wanting quality and performance and are willing to through down a couple of hundred bucks to get it. Any 500e is not the normal high level competition class bird, so why try to market to the same people who would buy a 90SG?

JR 500 E KIT PRICE $699.99
What is the cost to get this RTF compared to a T REX 500 ESP?

Items required: (Included With T Rex 500 ESP)
Main Blades $64.99 for Radix 430mm @ RH
Tail Blades $24.99 for Radix 72mm @ RH
Motor $74.99 for Scorpion 3026-1000KV @ RH
ESC $139.99 for CC Phoinix 60 @ RH
Servos Hitec HS 5245 $47.99 @ RH X 3 = $143.97

I'm not going to include Gyro or battery as both
the T REX 500 ESP & JR 500E will require in Addition
to above items for the JR 500E only.

Total:

JR 500E = $1148.92
T Rex 500 ESP $550.00
@ AMainHobbies or less on EBAY.

IS the JR 500E worth "DOUBLE" the Cost of a T Rex 500 ESP?

The part prices are DOUBLE the cost also!!!
one flybar is $10.44 for the JR 500E

You get 2 T REX 500 flybars for $5.99 or $2.99 for one

It does need to be $200 cheaper and then require $300 in upgrades. That seems to be the price model that provides the most joy on the forums.

if the JR 500e was $200-250 cheaper there would probably a whole bunch more people buying and flying it.

$500 for the kit would be understandable becuase your getting a top quality machine....but $700 is just ridiculous

I have heard the Rage 450 is bad a$$ and fly's like a 90. I don't really understand the whole 500 class. I have flown a Trex 500 and it did feel a bit better than a Trex 450 but I didn't feel it was worth the more expensive batteries and blades. The newer technology and tighter tolerances in heli's like the Rage is making the 450's fly alot smoother than they did two years ago. I guess what I am saying is it seems like the 500's came out to compensate for sloppy components, a larger size to masked the real problem.

JR Heli's are not mass produced, they are made to order hence the costing.

I know one thing, I seen the JR Vibe 500e in person a few weeks ago and it is one beefy machine. Looks a lot stronger than the t-rex 500. But I will admit it is a bit pricey.

It's a complex, costly, glow powered anti-gravity machine!
