I'll say this as my last post on the subject.
Ive got no horse in this race.
Ive got no problem with LtF

BUT

If you only want opinions from people you AGREE with
Thats pretty narrow minded and it really limits who you can learn or get help from.

Sorry if thats offencive but it is true
I am sorry for the loss, it sucks.

RIP ROMAN

Im done. Point made. The people I want on my side, are. Their opinions mean most to me. Thanks for the support!!
...because no one elses opinion counts right? Why did you not just PM your mates for moral support?

Bottom line is no one not even you can be 100% certain why your pack burst into flames (as it happen mid-flight). People are only passing judgement based on what you have described and posted...and a picture says a 1000 words.

There is a reasonable amount of variation in peoples opinion which indicates it's not clear to a third party exactly what caused the damage.

In the end are you not asking for independant opinons to give you a realistic idea of whether you are being treated fairly by the manufacturer/supplier?

I can see both sides here, I know it sucks for you though. Lipo's are inherently dangerous, so there is always a chance of them bursting into flames. That being said, I don't think they will ever replace the damaged parts, but they should should replace the pack, especially if this is the first time you've ever tried to get a pack replaced. My reccomendation, start buying your packs from Performance Plus RC, they are the exact same packs as Outrage, but with way better customer support. Outrage packs and PPRC packs are privately labeled Desire power packs... just some info, don't know if you knew that or not. The website to get them from is perfomanceplusrc. Good luck to you!

Yea, A great guy. I bought his 600n. If they have the packs, why would they not post them on their website?

I would assume he only keeps on hand what he sells the most of... The pack you want he would special order for you, which I don't think would cost any extra. You should e-mail him though, as I don't work for them, just have had great experience with dealing with him/PPRC. If you want, you can tell him I referred you to him, my name is Daniel. Hope this is helpful.

Jeff I'll take you up on those batteries as I'll be getting a 250 myself when they come in.
That would take the hassle out of having to box and ship them to anyone.

But on a serious note I though that the OUTRAGE policy was 50% replacement to all batteries so why would they only offer 20%
I bought some of these batteries myself because of this warranty I didn't know you had to argue for it.

See that is what set me off. 20%!?!?!!! Then I got upset then 50%. Not how things should work.

Next, as you can see, Charlie thought I crashed. His words, not mine. So I think they had their minds set from go after that.

I did not crash. The helicopter has NEVER been crashed.

Im going to shoot the 800s with a gun.

Like I said, it is not about the money. Principle. Thats it.

Guess you need to see it in person, to see there is no way it could have happened the way I described how I flew the pack. Would have taken a LOT OF FRICTION!!! To wear through the pack. Bob I have saved the pack and will bring it with me on saturday for you to look at.

I like all your opinions, some just stink.

It takes one tiny splinter to set off the pack, and it doesnt have to slide forth and back, they are razor sharp.
Splinter would have burned away so you wouldnt see it, leaving no evidence behind.

I have had same thing happen just after a minute or so.
So, sorry, but always sand and cover CF edges anywhere near the battery.
I use "fabric" type tape, same as used on hockeysticks.

Can you prove: (1) the battery was placed away from the frame? Most likely no because the pictures were taken after the fact; and (2) can you prove the battery was defective when it left the manufacturer given that it passed QC and the manufacturer most likely will have documentation that the battery passsed QC. I don't know to what extend Outrage limited its liability for battery failure but by purchasing and using the battery you may have accepted the limitations which in this case appears to be no liability. So the 20% and later 50% offer was made in good gesture without admission of liability.

BTW, 50% replacement comes into play from crashes. Learn to Fly did not crash his 500 so the 50% crash replacement policy does not come into play.

To me this isnt about whether or not the failure of the battery was due to questionable installation. It is about a company that wont kick down a battery that probably cost them ten bucks to keep a customer happy for life.I would rather pay more and know that someone will stand behind their products without question.Thunder power has never interogated me like this for replacement of packs under a year old.they take care of it no questions asked. Again thanks for the post. Some of the cheaper packs were starting to look attractive there for a while and now you got me back on track. I get what I pay for. I will stick to not just proven performance but proven support. Is it worth all of the grief just to save 20 or 30 bucks?Nope!

well I'm sorry for your experience.

I will say this...

I've been on both sides of the issue. As a consumer with defective products, and as a seller or employee of a company trying to determine if a claim is legit.

I will say this in defense of Outrage, as a generic statement of manufacturers. Most people are honest, buyers, that is. However, if you ever, EVER worked in an RMA dept, you wouldn't believe the utter CRA* that they see. I am NOT saying that is what the original poster is trying to pull, just giving some perspective on how the company can judge things given their experience. Doesn't make Outrage right, but I do happen to think that THEY THINK they are right, and NOT screwing you. Everything I've seen from Outrage, they seem to really try to support their product. I dont' THINK they thought, "well it's questionable, let's take the easy out."

I worked in memory development for a reputable Computer memory company that specializes in high end overclockers memory. We would get people taking our heatspreaders off and putting them on junk memory they bought at best buy. We could read the spd file and see it was different memory and would deny their warranty claim. They would rant and rave, and TYPICALLY, the loudest rants and raves inversely correlated with the most egregious offenders.

Again, I'm not saying that is what the OP is up to. I don't know him, and he has several reputable members backing him up, so I would have to give him the benefit of the doubt. That said, when I looked at the pics, within seconds I was like wtf, the battery rubbed the frame and killed it. Maybe it didn't, but w/out having the heli and only the pics, that's my initial thought.

So in summation, I can see both sides of the argument. It TRUELY sux when you "know" you are right, and warranties are denied. I've had it happen too. It's a very very hollow feeling, like something got stolen from you, namely trust in this case. On the other end, they have people trying to steal from them daily, and that is what false RMA's are, stealing. Some people don't see it as such, and I don't believe the OP what trying to do anything shady, but again I could see where Outrage would totally question the claim. Especially with a smaller company like Outrage which can't absorb a loss as easily as say TP
