IMHO, i think that Charley has made the correct offer. He has no way of being absolutely sure the cause of the packs demise.
Jeff, in one post you are the owner of the Hobby shop and in another you just work there?
it sure appears that the frame damaged the pack. Ron

Just my two cents worth; I have been running modified cf frames on my Trex 500 since day one just like Learn to Fly (Jeff) and have not had any problems. I only have velcro on the length of the battery tray and battery with no extra straps. Let me tell you that this will never come off in flight or move around at will! May be in a crash. Its hard enough to remove the battery when you want to replace it with a charged one! The only thing velcro will do is wobble slightly. I always leave a 5mm gap between the lipo and the frame which as I said earlier is the same as Jeffs. It has never moved yet in flight and rubbed on the frame.
Now I am not saying that the battery was touching the frames but IF it was then it could happen I am sure.
Jeff, sorry for the loss/damage on your bird. I wish you luck over your claim for a battery.
As for the rest of the parts, if it can be proved (very difficult for both parties) the battery caused this without any rubbing etc I believe the other parts should be replaced IMHO.
I will be sticking with TP and FP batteries as I have always had great back up.

t looks to me from the OP pictures that the heli was crashed and the pack was jammed into the frame.
Agreed totally with that one.

Id say Outrage are being more than generous.

Grow up and admit liability yourself. It looks dubious at best.

To me, looking at the pics, even though the battery is burned up, there is no blackenning of the upper velcro strap to me. Not saying you threw it in there after the accident, but that's immediately what i saw. Does anyone else agree?

where are the other pic or origional email to outrage you sent. just would like to see if you got it. usually they offer 30 day $ back warranty and then 50% crash replacement. but if this was brand new ? do they usually request crash pics and a faa report to determine crash replacements or warranty repairs ? i though you get a return # and send it in with a note and they dertermine from there ?

What is so hard to understand about this I did not crash, I was able to land it. The velcro that was originally holding is at the park, do you want me to try and go find it in all the snow? Cause I will. I ripped it out cause my heli was on fire!!!! Did not think it would come to this.

I showed you how it was set up, that is why it looks fresh. Im sorry I did not take pictures of the burns on my hands from the plastic dripping!!!!!!!!

This heli has NEVER-EVER been crashed.

I don't own or work at a hobby shop. I'm just a nice guy who helps out EVERYONE up there!!!

I did not take the original pictures. So again you are assuming I am up to something again. The hobby shop owner took them. Post them up. I dont care. Not hiding anything.

My word is my word. Believe me or not, my true buddies know the truth and that is all that matters to me.

Thankfully there are other battery brands. And you can bet I will never buy another product of yours ever again. The two packs I do have for my 250 I am going to give away FOR FREE!!

I didnt read that you had left the strap there. You are asking opinions about why they would not replace everything; i responded why i wouldnt have. easy as that. And I will take the 250 batteries if you are giving them away.

I think the hobby shop should have dealt with the warranty claim with outrage on this one as they were there to see what happened. This was a new pack that failed. This was not due to a crash. I think I would be dissappointed with the LHS as much as outrage. I just had to stop going to my LHS because they decided to charge me above retail on a special order. Used items are our responsibility for warranty claims but first day home issues should be dealt with by the hobby store. I would find a new RC home.

FYI this was not a store in Racine but in Greenfield WI.

RC anything, its all good.

The park is 30 seconds from my house walking. Look it up on a map if you like. I remember where I was flying Im no dummy. So I went and got it, what is the big deal. You asked for it so I got it.

Bailey Ave, Yalesville Ct 06492. Pragmann park. I can see it from my window.

NEXT!!!!!

The hobby shop tried, they did not get the answer I wanted.

These guys have met me in person a few times now. Im buddies with one of the team flyers that is friends with Charlie.

Wow. I've dealt with MaxAmps and ThunderPower before, and had great service with 50 percent replacements, but I think I'd be hard pressed to get either of them to pay for any parts, even if their pack spontaneously combusted in flight.

Sorry this is all happening, you must be frustrated, but this seems like a pretty solid offer in the industry. At least you can recover some parts and move on, if that's your choice.

man, this is great entertainment! I am gonna unhook my satellite system. My nipples are hard as a rock!
Aren't we hobbyist a fickle bunch of peps? No body can treat us like this, huh? who do they think they are, anyway? Don'T they know who we are? In what lifetime would you think that Outrage owes out more than what they get for a product that is as volatile as a lipo battery? Sorry you had the incident take place, but did you take time to read Outrage's policy BEFORE you purchased the battery? because your supposed to. Ignorance is no excuse for high expectations!

I'm kind of confused by this thread as well

There have been modifications done to the frame, however i don't think the issue is whether or not it caused the abrasion resulting in short circuit + balls of fire. What they could be saying is, that is the most 'possible' cause. Unless we have time travel backwards or alien technology in the canopy to video every single area, we can only base our conclusion on 'any' possibilities and chances of it happening.

Another point of concern, are the manufacturers obligated to replace ALL the packs as long as it falls within their stated dates, or is it up to their discretion and reasonable terms? If they're obligated to, then i suppose there will be people throwing lipos against the wall on the 179th day of a 180 day coverage period.

We understand you are mad, but take a step back and judge it from both sides. Don't take this the wrong way, we can't say who's fault this is, it's at best a 50:50 chance to both parties, and with the 50% replacement offer, i guess that's fair enough.
