Ok I bought an Outrage 2500 6S 30 pack for my Trex 500.

The first flight I took it easy in the back of the hobby shop.

Now the second flight I still took it easy...BUT I saw flames coming out of my heli 1 min into the flight. So I landed and everything was on fire, I took the battery out and flung it into a puddle, wrecking my new canopy and burning my hand a bit. But I did not want to loose the whole heli.

Now I emailed Outrage and they tell me I am out of luck. I modified my frame, and it wore through the pack. This is what Outrage told me...

Ok here are pictures of how the battery is mounted. Trust me it does not move, not one bit. I have a piece of velcro 2 1/2 inc x 4 inch on back of battery, and battery tray.

Looks secure NO?

I admit it looks sharp, but the battery does not even touch the carbon. Not at all.

Reason I had to lower battery tray is because my canopy did not fit as well. I have two Align packs that are just as wide and I have no signs of wear. Plus I have to mount the battery lower on the tray to get the canopy to fit too!!!

As you can see the battery blew out on the bottom where it rested against the battery tray. NOT The side frame.

Now I could see it wearing through if I did not have the two 1 inch strips of velcro holding it in, plus a 2 1/2x4 inch piece on the bottom.

OR if it was flown many times...

....THIS BATTERY ONLY SAW 3 MINS OF TOTAL AIR TIME!!! NO 3D!!! 2 FLIGHTS!!!!!

I have never made a post like this, but I am mad. I have shown NUMEROUS people my setup, and they are on my side after hearing my story.

What do you all think? See my points, and use your head. The battery is sealed with shrink wrap, then a layer of tape with strings, and a piece of foam protects the ends of the cells!!! It would have to have worn through all three!!!

I am surprised that outrage would blow anybody off, It sure looks like the pack was damaged on the frame though.

I have flown a bunch of outrage packs and never had an issue.

I have had a couple issues with other products from outrage/helidirect but they have always fixed the problem quick and easy.

I have had a couple emails back and forth about this with Outrage.

first is was 20%

Now it is 50%

I want 100% of the battery cost back, and thats it!!! It is all I asked for.

I really want them to fix it all!!! Servo, frame, canopy, battery tray!! Main shaft even rusted after the fire!!! This helicopter has LOTS of flight time. No crashes. It has been a fun machine.

The frame looks sharp in the pictures. But trust me it is not.

But lets say it is sharp...

...would it rub through the shrink wrap, the tape, and the foam in 3 mins? With all my velcro??? Again the battery does not move at all, I have shook the hell out of it too...it aint going NO WHERE!! 2 FLIGHTS!!!!!! 2, Two, Dos...

I refrained from posting until I got my answer. Well as you can see I did not get the answer I wanted.

If it were my fault I would man up and suck it up. But this time I know I am right.

I see your point...

I hope you can find some satisfaction...
Just try to remain calm with them, see where you can get.

I am surprised they have not offered anything, they are 100% in my book.

This is what both sides looked like before the fire. It was done with a dremel round wheel, so it was smooth.

I was polite the whole time. Now I am starting to fume!!!

you have to look at it from the other side,,
This was not a manufacture defect
you did modify the frames, and the frames were sharp.
take anything you can get, but you can't expect to much.

My friend, they are not sharp. An angle yes, sharp no.

The pack blew out on the BOTTOM!! Not near the frame sides. Plus like I said I did not mount it that high due to being use to mounting it lower to get the canopy to fit.

Plus use you head, it would have taken a LOT Of flight time to wear through the shrink wrap...

then the tape with strings, ever try to rip the stuff with you hands?

Next a layer of foam that is on each end.

NO WAY!!!

Battery was on its SECOND flight!!!! AND SECURE!!!

My Align packs show no sign of wear, nor my Flight powers. They are mounted the same way.

Given that your pack was mounted in such a way that there was no 'rubbing' or 'friction' on the bottom cell nearest the base plate, and that your heli was reasonably well balanced so as to not experience any undue vibrations, I would be inclined to consider that the pack was faulty.

replace battery yes, but servo, frame, main shaft, now you are just acting like an idiot....no offense.

a company has no responsibility on what damage their item causes because of defect or malfunction, period. if your tire rips off and you crash into a guard rail (good year)is not going to hand you $7000.00 for the damage to the car. but will happily give you a replacement tire and say sorry.

but like i said, Outrage should replace it free of cost.

Actually, no it wouldn't. Sorry.
I'm not saying that is what caused the fire, I'm just pointing out your claim that it couldn't happen that fast is wrong.

I have seen too many helis crash their first flight due to something rubbing on the frames to agree with your comment.

Which is worse, ignorance or apathy? I don't know and I don't care!

I have to concur with Mapleleafs, Outrage should replace the pack, even though where you cut the frames LOOKS BAD. I would not expect them to cover damage on your heli anyway, and ESPECIALLY not with the frames like that. Outrage has no way of knowing that you ACTUALLY had both Velcro wraps on, or that they were tight or, or, or... know what I mean? I am not saying or questioning that you did not have it secure, but just showing you their side....

"I modified my frame, and it wore through the pack."
This is what they said to me. Not my words sorry

I only told Outrage I wanted the battery replaced for the record. But I am mad that their product trashed my perfect heli and they wont own up to it.

I knew I should have pre wrote this, as I knew many would pick it apart.

Im also telling you with how it was mounted, there was no way in hell it could have moved the slightest bit.

The frame is not sharp either, it was ground down with a Dremel round sand paper wheel, it is smooth.

Plus the battery did not even touch that area.

My hobby shop owner is even on my side. He has seen it in person, and knows how I do things.

It would have taken more than 3 mins to wear through the pack, yes it would. Plus It was strapped down so well.

BS. You take their $#!tty offer, and they think it's OK. Make no mistake about it, Jeff knows what he is doing, and if he says it happened that way, then it happened that way. They should replace that pack 100%, that is their RESPONSIBILITY. The rest of the stuff isn't strictly their responsibility, but any company who truly cares about their reputation and customers would replace at least part of what was damaged.

Jeff, I wouldn't take ANYTHING from them besides 100% replacement of the pack. If they offered 99% I'd tell them to shove it. There are principals, and you should not let them get away with this. They are blowing you off, you are 100% right to post it publicly.
