Why Hover a Yak, when a Heli does it better?

I grew up in the San Joaquin Valley, in Central California. Major agricultural area. Got to see these guys quite a bit, as well as the Bell 47's with their spray rigs. Those cropdusters are all about the low and slow, and are some of the most skilled pilots out there. My buddy's dad was a cropduster, and flew an old Stearman biplane for fun, out of the Green Acres airport, when it was still around.

It's people like that in the video that think just because THEY don't know what they're doing, nobody else does.

People like that also need an engraved invitation to pull out into traffic (need a two block clearance before they move)

But they don't think twice about another car coming at them at 100 MPH closing speed and miss them by only 8ft with just a white line painted on the pavement for separation.

I'm pretty sure that cropduster was aiming for that rig, giving that driver a little extra "excitement" for the day. When they clear corn at 3 feet to lay down pesticide all day, what's a little close pass to start things off?

I agree, Airwolf. Those guys are probably pretty blissful in their ignorance though

Looks like a turbine Air Tractor. Not an AgCat. AgCat's are biplanes.

Yeah I'm a nerd. Actually went to cropdusting school to become a cropduster. Didn't go much past school though. Just not enough money in it for the time and risk.

Yeah, if that is a turbine crop duster, it is probably farther away than it looks because those things are HUGE! My dad works at a small airport and our clubs flying field is at another small airport where a lot of the crop dusters have their base for the area, so I see them quite a bit. I love watching those land. It looks like they are coming in waaaaaaaaay too hot, but as soon as they reverse the pitch on the props, they slow down so dang fast its ridiculous.

I LOVE MY EVO!!!

that cropduster was making a left bank across the freeway... which means he had the belly of the plane facing oncoming traffic... I may be wrong, but I don't think he even saw the truck coming.

My family farms in South Louisiana. We use an Air Tractor 502 and 802 for most of our aerial applications. The flying service is right down the road from my parent's place. We fly RC helis and planes there whenever I'm down there visiting.

I don't care how skilled most cropduster pilots are, what this one just did was stupid. I'll agree with TrexRookie about the chances of him not even realizing he was that close to the truck.

I don't care about the angles of viewing and what I did not see in the video from a real life "on scene" perspective.
All it takes is one senior citizen or even a younger driver to be startled by him coming across the road to lose control of the car.
It's probably common-place for the locals and any one familiar with the area, but anyone else their not used to seeing that.
That the guy is on the cell phone as well is not the issue, but we know about that crap.

Sounds like another democrat.
. . . . Something unusual happens and you're no longer responsible.
Maybe I should be one too . . . .
. . . . When I read something like that I might loose control of my car too . . .

whatever Airwolf...you poor pathetic miserable misfit of society who's outlet to justify your existence is with some of the posts you put up here.
It is easy for you to say that behind the safety of your keyboard. I seriously doubt if you would say that to me in real life without a group of your friends around to back up.
While you do have intelligent things to say sometimes regarding flight, you do get a large number of people ridiculing your posts on here time and time again I doubt that you have that many friends to begin with in real life.

That you remark with some reference to whatever political preferences I may have without really knowing what my preferences are is just broadcasting your lack of social intelligence and is really just stupid on your part.
You have no clue as to what my experiences are in life to remark that I would consider this flying to be unusual. Considering the maneuverability of cropdusting aircraft there is not really a need to fly like that across a highway traveled by the public.

If you cannot see that there is a chance that some less the alert driver who would not expect this if they came from a big city and are just driving along the highway would be startled by a guy flying a crop duster across a road like that and possibly cause the driver to do something stupid and not pay attention to driving the car then your thinking less then required to be a member of the human race and perhaps you will be listed among the Darwin Awards someday.

AirwolfRC, I have defended you before in regards to your some your posts that you have made, but now I can see more of your personality to see that while you may be intelligent on some things about heli's and flight you are basically not very intelligent and are really just a typical misfit with some knowledge of about flight and very little in life. In short, what other people are saying about you is true. Your a f*cking ass.
