They are two different size helis. The 500 is bigger. The Rave is a 450 and is not meant to compete with the 500.

IMHO, the Rave is quite a bit stronger built (stiff) than the Trex 500 (no offense). Because of this, the Rave has a much better tail response and you can use a higher TR gain for a great hold. Not to mention, if you do have an accident the parts cost are minimal.

And, don't have any regrets, you're going to love your new Rave, just like so many of us do.

Hopefully, yours will come in tomorrow!

No tomorrow as its MLK day so no postal service
I'm sure I will love it. I fly my 500 out in my front yard and it was a bit too big for the area so hopefully the rave will fit into my avail space and I was wanting one with cheaper batteries lol

So far the more I fly mine the more I like it. It has the feel of a larger heli than a 450.

Okay I am sure the scorpion 60 is a great ESC however I feel like I am trying to mount a brick on the side of my rave. Anyone have some pics on placement? Then running the wires to it and from it will be the next challenge.

Hi hockeyrules99,

Here's some photos of the mounting and wiring method used for my Scorpion 60A V2. I was able to place the ESC out from under the canopy and into open air for better cooling. The slight angle I used allows it to fit nicely in the V of the canopy without touching. I used sticky velcro on both the side frame and the ESC and ran the throttle cable underneath the battery tray and between the side frames back to the receiver.

Have fun!

Guys thank you so much for the pics! Its starting to come to life just getting the swash level now. Front elevator push rod still seems long but working it out slowly but surely.

John

How many of you guys are running the Scorpion commander 60 ESC? Do you notice ALOT of heat on BEC heat sink? During setup mine is smoking hot! Might have to run a separate BEC with the 4s Setup.
Also what did you set your cut off voltage to be when programming?

Hi Hockeyrules99,

Mine got hot too, more so during hovering than flying around.

Here's a new way I'm trying to cool it now.
