Dave sorry I qouted your post to make a point.

The fuel magnet is the best. Why would you run a header tank and only fly the main tank down? Run a fuel magnet and remove the header tank. If you like you can strap a 4oz piece of lead to the side to get the same results you had ie.. useless weight

I've been flying RC helis 17 years. If I took all the advice of the guys I fly with and never tried anything for myself I would have missed out on allot.

My engine receives constant fuel and will suck the tank dry just like a magnet would do.
VANHELI, i welcome your input. thanks. The above is really all i'm after. I'm just looking for a solution, no need to get nit-picky here regarding what i specifically asked for.

The way i was flying before the stock fuel system was able to do the job so FMs, OSBCs, and header tanks were useless for my particular situation.

I've decided to go with a fuel magnet because from what i've read, if maintained properly, it does the best job with the least amount of added complexity. for me these were my choices:

OSBC good performance, no mantainance, least complex
FM performance close to HT, minor maintanance, just as simple as OSBC
HT best performance, minor maintanance, a bit more complex

btw I have two helicopters with header tanks and regular clunks. I also have two helis with fuel magnets that I haven't really flown yet. I figured I'd give them a try since they seem to be the way to go to save weight and still get great performance. I've read about the negatives of the fm's but still decided they're worth a shot and if they work then maybe all my helis will have them.

Hi, I don't have a heli, but I do have a question about fuel magnets, Tettra bubbless tanks and the O.S. bubbless clunk. The best way to explain is to show a picture.

This fuel tank bubbles REALLY bad, there is foam underneath, the prop is balanced, but there is still vibration causing the bubbles. It will only run down to 1/2 tank before leaning out. Could it be a tank mount problem?

After reading this whole thread, I'm leaning toward the O.S. clunk...but I wanted some expert opinions.

Ridgidly mounting the tank like that will definitely contribute to foaming problems. Try mounting it on some foam rubber.

Header/Magnet debate, never used a magnet, I always used a header tank with OS clunk, never had any issues. Both systems need to be maintained and checked peroidically, and both work.

Mikado Logo 400, hopefully ready by spring.

2 forced autos and a hole in a piston till I figured out my FM was letting real small pieces go.

Im trying it again, very cautiously.....and changing the foam every couple months. Im going to try the os bubbless on my 700n as ive heard they work fine........
