On a recent post I started about paddles, a couple guys said they are running longer than stock flybars for faster cyclic....isn't a shorter flybar prefered for this? Any suggestions on an alternative to the stock?

I believe the stock flybar for a 600N is 390mm(not sure) and they have a 440mm available that will make it faster on the cyclics.

So the longer the flybar, the more unstable and quicker it will be? Thought it was opposite...

I think the length and weight of the flybar both contribute to the locked in feel of a heli, so i'm pretty sure that shortening it would decrease stability and increase maneuverability. look at it this way, take it off all together and you'll have one wild heli.

the longer the flybar the more leverage there is ,with a short flybar the heli becomes very stable and it won't roll as fast,i am using a raptor 30 flybar it fits perfect ,with the t rex 600's flybar you have to use a file to meke the flat spots for the setscrews on the flybar cage

blade slayer, not sure that is right, on a bell hiller system the flybar gyroscopically stabelizes and calms the head. a longer flybar with larger paddles (weights) on the end will give you a much more stable helicoptor. if you think a shorter flybar makes the heli more stable, cut yours so that its just long enough to screw on the paddles and tell us how it flies.

i have flown the stock flybar, and after that the raptor 30 flybar with the same paddles and it rolls faster with the longer flybar, same with my t rex 450 ,this flybar makes my heli a little faster http://www.align.com.tw/shop/produc...roducts_id=1751 ,this one makes it more stable http://www.align.com.tw/shop/produc...roducts_id=1091 i am pretty sure it works like that, then again i could be wrong

If you want faster cyclic, try a lighter main blade.

if you want a faster cyclic just go FBL problem solved.....jokes...well not really.

when i did use flybars i always found longer ones gave me a faster cyclic and more stability....

its pretty crasy but i think that it just depends on the machine and the ratios that are already in place, its possible to go to far one way or the other, some may have gotten better results going one way and some better the other but on a different machine. if you realy want to know ask charlie stevens, he the designer of the outrage line, he has explained this to me more than once!!!!

I'm running the trex 600 flybar with the light cf paddles and it's amazingly fast. I also switched to the maniac blades from ready heli.

For flybars/paddles, longer and lighter = faster and 12 deg on cyclic doesn't hurt either.

Yes I'm running the 600N flybar on the 500. I ground some new flats on it and stuck it in. Now with the maniac blades, lighter paddles, higer cyclic pitch and the 600N flybar, it's a little over the top. But if you looking for fast rolls and flips it's quick. Plus I'm only running the 12 tooth pinion so I'm still getting 5+ minute flights.

Shoo is correct, as I understand it, they sell a longer flybar for both the 450 and 600 advertised to make it quicker, more area and lighter paddles do the same thing, like most things it is a balance act as to what you want? putting the paddles out farther gives them more speed which gives them more of a lever to work with, but it helps to make them lighter at the same time so they won't want to stay in there plan of travel, more area again gives them more leverage.

Shorter flybar means usually means less stable and slower roll rate. I think the longer flybar makes it more stable but also allows for faster roll rates because there's more force able to turn the heli. However, it takes more power to turn longer paddles.

the raptor 50 fly bar fits perfect you don't even have to cut the notches for the set screws.after all this flybar talking i am thinking going flybarless
