I'm looking into setting my 500 up for some AP work and I wanted to gear down the rpm to get longer flight times. I'm currently running a 13t but I want to go perhaps two or three teeth smaller.

I know align sells a 12t but are there any other companies that sell smaller pinions that would mesh correctly and work with the stock motor?

You may need to go with a lower Kv. motor. The problem with finding a smaller pinion for your motor is spacing of the teeth(Mod 0.50)on a 5mm. motor shaft.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the stock pinions were .6 mod.

If i were you i'd go to 12T and lower your throttle curve to about 60-70%. any lower and the heli might become somewhat unstable and the tail could blow out if you hit the collective a bit too hard. you could also try longer blades which will lend well with lower headspeeds.
