My current setup is a Trex600 with a 100A Align ESC and 6s TP5000 packs, which all runs well. I am considering converting my setup to a 9s by adding a 3s TP5000 (matching the 6s TP5000), obviously that means a new HV ESC and motor (considering my options now)...

My question is will the COG suffer too much?

Do I need to replace my frame or can I make my classic 2mm CF frame work with 9s?

A 9s 5000 setup id going to be very heavy and I,m not sure that it could be made to balance. If you do 3D the correct cg is very important.

Yeah, that's why I'm asking if anyone has tried. Mainly because I don't want to completely reinvest in batteries. Maybe 5000mAh on 9s is just too heavy?

Get a weight that would approximate a TP 5000 3s battery and see if you can get an arrangement that will work. I have done that by taping together some old batteries to approximate the weight – actually you can use almost anything.

I ran a 10s setup with Flight Power 3700's. It balanced perfect. I placed the pack if ur standing at the front of the heli and looking at the front of the heli with the packs cell 1 through 10 from left to right as if u were reading a book.

Worked perfect.

That's a god idea

If I am running 8 (6+2) EVO25 4900mAh cells. Total weight is about 1040g.
To make CG right I have to put 2cell lipo on bottom plate and move it as far back I there is a space. And 6cell goes on usual place (batt. tray). Everything else are at the back (rx lipo, VR etc.).

You are talking about 9 5000mAh cells - it's gonna be a brick.
I think your only choice to make CG is to move 3 cell lipo close to main shaft (bottom plate or side frame).

Btw, I'm running 4025-890 motor (340g) and 8 cells of Zippy/Rhino 3700mAh do balance pretty well (weight of 2x4s lipos are 836g)

Maybe this is the way forward, add an additional 2s pack adding an extra 263g.

I currently have perfect COG (6s setup) with the forward battery tray offset by one hole, so if I move it to the upright position I might get away with an 8s setup?

When I was running 6cell setup I had battery tray one hole forward as you have. Heli had about right CG with lipos from 730g (TP 5000mAh) and 760 Zippy-H 5000mAh.

Now, tray is in vertical position and CG is right for 2x4s Rhino 3700mAh 840g but is not for 6+2 EVO25 4900 1040g. So, I don't think you would have enough room to balance your extra 263g on a battery tray.
