A heli won't "rot". Sounds like some are lacking the TLC and respect required for any machine.

Over in Asia the Thunder Tiger raptor has all gone back into the jungle, No one is flying a raptor as they have hooked up with Align. Cant blame them, raptor parts are 1/3 more costly than the align stuff.

The claim of reliability may be true but heck, for that price I couldnt care less plus I dont want to be flying the Align for the next 12 years either.

However, I have to respect those who wish to fly machines made from the Flintstone era, it is their choice so no point going on bashing other makes just because you like Wilma a 'hole' lot.

http://www.heliproz.com/prodinfo.asp?number=804219 <--- Raptor

http://www.heliproz.com/prodinfo.asp?number=PROCRASH <--- Trex

Keep telling your self that and remember what they say about the Align crash kit "You will probably need blades too, but we'll leave that up to you" .I can buy 2 raptor crash kits WITH CF blades for the price of 1 align crash kit AFTER you find your own blades. There both good flying helis and Align is just a little bit better IMO so I rather fly my Raptor and when im ready to buy a heli that is built better than the raptor i'll get a MA cause there worth the extra money.Everyone has there opinion but Align will never be cheaper than a Raptor.

You should note that in those crash kits, there are 2 booms, 2 spindles, 2 mainshafts and 2 main gears in the Trex crash kits. They are also OEM parts, not aftermarket like the Raptor crash kit.

Nothing against the Raptor, I have a few and really like them.

Like I said,I could still buy 2 Raptor crash kits, both with CF blades for the price of 1 Trex crash kit after you buy the blades. As for the Mavrikk parts, they work just as good as the TT parts and thats another thing I like about the Raptor, theres a ton of options out there for parts like the Mavrikk parts.Theres no options like that for the Trex..

Just by the number of views/replies of this thread, look like the raptor isn't forgoten at all.

I think align missed it with the T-rex 600. It is designed around a 6S power system which is too low, batteries stand in front, exposed to a crash and motor is hanging down in the frame limiting motor choice.

TT made it right with a 10S system, "in frame" battery bay and "on top" motor position. The head may be not actual, but kasama or V-bar take care of that quick.

An Align I would like to have is the "heli-chris" conversion of the T-rex 700. It have "In frame" batteries and motor sitting on top...

I had two boomstrikes on a Raptor during some 3D'ing. Haven't tried one since . I like the way my 600N flies, it's not perfect but better than my old Raptor I think. Don't get me wrong, I liked the Raptor but it wasn't exactly what I was looking for. Anywayz, it's just a hobby and everyone flies what they think is the most suitable heli.

That's fine and all but shipping and taxes/duty eat up any savings you might make....

Well, when I have to spend $2NZD to buy $1USD for a start, it adds up quick, yes. This:
http://tiny url.com/9spnpq
is not a pretty picture is it?

Prices are nearly double for us in NZ for example, due to our falling currency value. And you have to add GST once the parts come in too, unless the shop will undervalue the Commercial Invoice, which many will thankfully.

At least in NZ, there is almost 0 benefit to importing your own gear any more. We now have competitively priced local dealers who sell almost everything we could ever want. Plus we then get overnight delivery and local warranty service. If you buy from the USA and have to send a faulty part back, there goes any $$ you might have saved.

Yes, I still import rare/unavailable stuff but that's about it.

Whatever else you said is fine, except for the above part.
I don't think that there is a heli that has never boomstruck.

Boomstrikes can be a result of so many things that aren't the fault of the heli itself.

Mainblades too loose
Mainblades not stiff enough
Dampeners too soft
Too low a head speed
Anything else I forgot?

I must say that I have never had a boom strike. I can only attribute this to good maintenance and smooth inputs without being overzeleous.

That didn't come out right.
What I was trying to say is:

I haven't seen any brand or model "range" which somebody hasn't at one stage or the other, reported a boom strike.
Unless you go to a Fun fly or competition where you see a high amount of boomstrikes on a particular model range, they are just isolated incidences that are more related to setup then anything else.

Donuts and Donut holes
Well I just enjoy flying Helis whether they be Raptor's, Trex's, Hirobo, what ever. I have owned many different ones, and they all have their plusses and minuses. But I am sure of this one thing, of all the Helis I have owned, I have not found one that offered less than my capabilities.

That being said I have a brand new Raptor 90 3D in the box that I will sell for $500.00, and that includes paypal fees and shipping in the continental US. Happy or your money back. See clasifieds.
