The "R" unit is so you can use a remote sensor on the motor and not have to mess with magnets with a governor. You need to check out the Spektrum site and see what each Rx has to offer.

When I read your post it sounded like you were asking what batts to use for your Rx.

by the way, the best wood blades I've ever flown came from Audacity. Wood sets are notoriously hard to match when put together as a set, but they've been the best I've had. I'm also using the SWE carbons from Audacity, great blades for the money.

Helibro, I use a 3300 mAh Nimh battery. It fits nicely under the long battery tray and balances out the Pantera really well. I think I got it from RC Batteries but its been awhile since I bought it. Its a 4 cell. The charger I bought is an AccuCycle Elite. It will charge Nimh, Nicd, and Lipos. It has 2 charge ports and so you can be charging 2 sets of batteries at one time. It has a 10 battery memory which is really nice so you don't have to remember the specs for your batteries. I have 9252s for all my servos except the tail. But you don't need that expensive a servo for the throttle. I didn't read the entire post so I'm not sure what servo you chose for the throttle. I'm running a 401 gyro with the matching servo and it works great. I'm also running the GV1 governor. Its really nice to not have to worry about your throttle when you start doing 3D. But if your just beginning, you don't need it. I started with the woodies from John and broke quite a few of them when I was learning. They're cheaper than his CF ones so you might want to consider staying with the woodies for awhile. But when you go to the CFs, you'll notice a difference. Plus you can run your head speed higher with them. John will tell you what he recommends as a head speed for the woodies.
