Got several flights on mine yesterday, Trex 500 ESP. Very windy 20-25mph but warm and sunny :-)

Its at least as good as 611. Very smooth piro rate especially given the conditions. Very good holding power. Pretty much a hassel free program and setup.

So far so good, need more time. I mayt be replacing the 611 on the 700n soon....

Its pretty solid on my Rave.

It is the most locked Ive ever felt on any tail gyro Ive used. Granted the Rave is a very smooth machine Ill have to move it to my flybarless Raptor Titan and give it a try with a BLS 251

Good Job!

Does anyone know what does Reference response setting do. Its the default setting for Response setting.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think this could be considered (medium) since it is default and the other choices are (slow) for heavier tail helis or (fast) for small or 3D... I think

I flew my 520 on my protos this past week and also had another more
"3D-able" pilot have at it. Its a good gyro, the piros are consistent - both fast and slow speeds. It holds and responds extremely well, has great stopping power, no issues with tail slides, etc. I have had a couple of Spartans in the past and I feel that the 520 is on par with them for sure. It sets up easy, takes no space, and feels good in the air so far. Anyway, just one dudes opinion - I think Futaba did a great job with this gyro and I will be keeping it

looking for comparison to 611

Is it better.. is it now the top of the futaba line?

Specs to back it up?
Short answer, YES!

Long answer, this past weekend I installed the GY520 on my 600N and flew a whole gallon trying different settings. First I found out for my flying style I preferred the default performance settings (F3C and Reference).

Before installing the GY520, my 600N has been flown with a GY611 for a year and half. Comparing the two I noticed the GY520 had more consistent piro rates at all speeds. Also the GY520 felt like it had more stopping authority. Not as crazy as the Spartan or JR 7703D but more then the GY611, just right for my liking.

Personally, the gyro suits my flying style to a "T". It's very smooth, holds strong, and stops just right.

Setting 3 allways blink red. you get a fast red blink light when you are actual setting the limits and are below 50% res on the servo. Its a little miss leading. So don't pay attention to the slow red blinks (tell you are in limit setting)

Comparing Stock setup you can do 520 VS Spartan, Hands down 520 is better. Howevery i can't comment on using the advanced programming that can be done on both gyros with a USB interface. I will bet that you can setup the 520 to have a harder lock feel then stock, also and futaba likes to have lots of undocumented features.

Piro Rate
Do Not Use DR for travel volume!

Use Heading Hold Mode and 3D setting and the gyro can handle 800degrees/second

yes i would not mess with ATV but if you want it fast then 800 degrees i think the ATV will bump it up some.

From the manual.....

"The GY520 is compatible with digital (1520us and 760us) servos. However the mode matched to the type of servo must be selected."
