i was very excited to read this thread today, because ive ordered an apache from approach eng. yesterday for a trex600e and cant wait for it to arrive and start on itdogwood you are a very brave man taking on such a large and detailed model as this for your first time and you are doing a fantastic job,
ive built heaps of models in the past but nothing like this before so its a bit of a learning curve for me too. i wasnt going to go the whole hog and do the rivets, but after seeing your job and how good it looks im going to have to do it too...yeh gee thanks, loldo you know the rivet layout for the whole heli and can you show us?also with the 4 blade tail and the two hubs, did you use a longer tailshaft?keep up the good work, look forward to seeing it finishedps also, i take it you are using a very thin light fibreglass cloth to cover everything? |

Looking forward to some pictures |

I'm kinda new to doing scale as well. Although my Apache is the big Indyhelis one, I also had to look elsewhere to figure out the detailing. Besides photos and reference books, I got the idea of ordering a plastic model of the Apache, so I can see the rivet patterns, and visualize all the other little detailing doo dads in 3d (plus get some accurate unit decals that can be scanned and enlarged). Maybe this is common knowledge amongst the veteran scale guys, but it's helping me a lot!We don't need no stinking flybars! |

Why did you need to do your own vacuum forming? They are not provided in the kit? It's easy to find an excuse to do wrong. Hard is not to find an excuse to do right. |
