Guys,
i've upgrade my freya evo with nova 4 fuse. well before it flies with 401 with no problems but... now with nova with strong wind and fast backward flihghts it mkes some time non prdictable piruets (180degrees for ex) should i change it now because of new fuse for a better one>? what do you reccomend? or there is a chance for my 401 + 9254..

many regards!

My 401 doesn't piro to consistently, but I've never had it blow out like that.

'Blow out' is not a measure of the power of a gyro (as some would have you believe), it happens because the tail rotor pitch at the limit is not enough to hold it. It is true that some newer gyros will use the full range of travel better than a 401 does.

Make sure you have full travel on your tail rotor pitch. Ideally you want the 'travel' pot at 100% then adjust the servo arm length to get the range you need at the tail end.

In reality, get it close then adjust the travel pot accordingly.

Barry,
what do you mean with 'get it close"?

I'll check the endpoint

I mean to use the hole in the arm which gives you nearest to the amount of throw on the tail you need (with the gyro pot at 100%), then fine adjust with the pot on the gyro so it doesn't drive too far.

Blow Out is the force of the Gyro holding the tail. When you put a GY 401 on a T-Rex 700n and do a 70mph tail slide, the gyroscopic forces overcome the power of the Gyro, hence you get a Blow-Out.Wrong gyro for this application.Switch the Gyro to a Spartan or a Solid-G using the same servo,no blow-out occurs. It has everything to do with power(holding capability) of the Gyro BarryB.

Barry Do you mean to achieve the biggest possible end point? The widest move?

I try to do some test it's cheaper thas buy a new Gyro : )

Zac,
the gyroscopic forces overcome the power of the Gyro
Yes, and the flux capacitor is a device which enables time travel.

The words are there, but it makes no sense !!. Do you understand what you just wrote ?.

The solid state sensors are not affected significantly by acceleration. The gyro is not putting out any power at all - it is simply a PWM signal to a servo. The other gyros have better software which enable them to use the full range of tail rotor pitch but they will blow out too if they reach the limit.

Synthax,

What you want to do is make sure your gyro is using the full range of the slider for the tail pitch. Use the Tx to drive it full range left and right while it is in HH. If it is not using the full range, make the servo arm longer until it does.

Barry,

The ability of a Gyro to detect angular acceleration at a better rate will determine its limits. We guys on the street call it holding power. When angular acceleration has been exceeded to the point the gyro cannot compensate you get Blow-out.Is that better! The Gyros ability to hold the tail.
The GY401 should be set-up and hovered intially in rate mode aswell.I really like the Solid-G !
Flux capacitors do not work!

Your are talking about the gyro exceededing it's sensing range ?. It is nothing to do with angular acceleration, it is angular rate which limits what a solid state gyro can sense.

I expect this will be > 360 deg/sec for any gyro and probably a lot more. If you are not deliberately doing a high speed piro at this rate (which Synthax is definitely not) then it will not get anywhere near this value. Quite how you can detect this as a pilot I don't know because it doesn;t really make any difference until you release the stick and go back into HH.

From what I understand about blowout, it's when the tail is at some extreme holding position (like with a lot of wind due to the manouvre) and just can't hold against the force any more so it slips.

Flux capacitors do work : I saw it on a documentary with Micheal J Fox.

Barry.

Well it worked...nice thread!! LMAO

I run 3 Solid G's...

1- Synergy
1- Trex 700
1- Stratus

Love them and WOULDN'T change for anything.....

Quick...here comes my wife....hide that new Heli !!!!
