Newbee
Tommo, who has a great interest in helicopters wants to learn to fly, He dug this one out of his collection wondered if it would fit the bill, as we are turbine and scale flyers
Have spent all day checking it out and fitting new electrics, I have never seen any thing this basic,
The blades are plastic, just hook in and centrifugal force holds them in place, the spring just stops them jumping out
Fixed pitch, last time I flew a fixed pitch it was in the early 80's
Waiting for a starter belt
Any body have any info on this Graupner Bell 47G model with .25cc engine of German origin?

Flying Raffle winner
One of the members of the NHHC, is also a golfer, the golf club were looking for a novel way to select the club Raffle winner
The idea is to load the box with minature golf balls with numbers on them, load them into the carrier box, the pilot fly's the heli over a pin hole on the green, and opens the box by remote servo, the ball that lands closest to the hole is the winner

Was hopeing for a photo of them together in the air, but Rod was having problems setting up his new aquisition, and I had electric start problems

Are the starters very reliable ?
Wayne,When they work, they are great, just stand back and hit the switch, there is a fair amount of setting up to get it spot on
Downside, the single motor starters all develope problems, in retaining the capasity to spin the motor fast enough,I have tried the 3cell lipo, and this did not work for me, HobbyParts made a 2 starter conversion plate, with the 2 motors it works better, but I did the 2 starter conversion only a short while ago, and now I have stripped the whole lot out and gone back to pull start
With the price at just under £300.00,replacement starter motors at £45.00, add the 9.6 volt battery at about £30.00, it starts to get expensive for something that goes wrong on a regular basis, once it goes down thats flying finished for the day
It may seem that I may just be unlucky, but I have 3 second hand starters in the drawer in the workshop, taken out of machines belonging to other people, so it is not just me

Thanks Peter, That was what I had surmised also. I had one of the starters on a Super Tiger 3000 years ago and it gave fair service. The fact that if it breaks ,you're done was the killer for me.Of course the rope starter could break also but you could carry a spare of those. Thanks and you guys have a great weekend. Wayne

Electric/pull start
Wayne, Took my R22 to the field to test out the new 2.4 installation, the motor started 2nd pull, then 1st pull for the next 2 starts, I have decided to stay with pull start, unless it is already fitted to a second hand machine
The weekend looks like it is going to be fair, 2 of us are off to the " Meeting of Rotary Eagles"for a couple of days

GYRO 401
Thanks to Phil shields and Peter Rob for helping me with the Benzin trainer which i have been flying with out setting up gyro for over a year....! stupid me !!! for those of you who fly with futaba 401 i thought i would share this with you
1. Always turn on model in head and hold.
2. Then wait for light to stay on.
3 Then switch from head hold to normal that's if you've been flying with out the gyro...like me ha

and you will find that your Heli fly's like a dream..... it will actually stay in the wind with out going all over the place...

just to wrap it up... read the instructions !!!! not like me.

would like to say thanks to chopper jockey for the coffee and being able to fly on his site...
