Sorry to hear that Jimbo, i guess thats how life is sometimes. Do you have a tach so you can dial in the head speed? Irwin says around 1400 for break in. I'm using a gov in mine but i'm going to break it in with thr curves.

I got a little done to mine this weekend i mounted the carb and airfilter and linkage. I just got tru mounting the new tuned pipe looks awesome thanks Irwin for the trade in. I also just finished mounting the EI sensor,i used red locktite i hope thats ok. I'm fixing to mount the boom and tail back on and run my tail push rod. Thanks for all your pics Jimbo i bet i've looked at them a hundred times or more. I hope you get flying soon as i want to know what thr curves you come up with. I know how to set them but i like to know kinda where to start. I setup up one gasser before for a friend and as i remember i had to get pretty low on the curves to get the head speed down.

Thanks for all you help and good luck

yup, I too had to go realy low on the throttle curve percentages cause the gas 26cc motor just realy jumps up there on the RPM`s..
It is way different than a nitro engine.
I`m trying to find a happy medium, with loading the motor and all.
This is definately a learning experiance for me. I have a friend that flies gassers that is helping me some.
Yes , I am using a tach for the headspeed ; 1400RPM`s is what Irwin told me also.
On my DX7 TX , my throttle curves are set on normal mode 0,16,25,35.5,42.0. ,5 point curve,; idle up 1 ; 29,29,25,INH,42.0
Pitch curves are set to ;norm mode, mid stick 0 pitch , high stick 12* degrees positive; low stick 3* degrees negative...
Idle up 1 , high stick 12* degrees positive, mid stick 0* , low stick 12* degrees negative....
Throttle hold , high stick 12* degrees positive, low stick 5* degrees negative....

Throttle hold , high stick 12* degrees positive, low stick 5* degrees negative
For your throttle hold, if you can get more pitch will give you that extra cushion at the end of the auto if you need it..... We normally set as much positive for autos as possible, without overtravelling the servo....

Holy Cow !! 16* on top ?? Do you have 16* negative travel as well ?? If so, that's great...... if not, you need to work on your setup so that it's symmetrical both ways from 0* at center stick.....

I would use all of the positive pitch available for throttle hold..... If it's 16*, I would use every bit of it. That will give you an incredible amount of "reserve" at the bottom of the auto.....

That's great on the travel Jimbo. All you need is 11 deg or so. The 26cc will do just great with that. Mine will climb very easily inverted with plenty of authority.

Thanks shuttlepilot!!
I got it set up for 12* degrees + & - , but I rarely use all of the pitch. I just like to have it just in case...

I have not setup my Bat yet but i have to say if you can get that kind of pitch then thats great. If you have that much mecanical movement want that make you fly closer to the center of the stick? It might even make it alot more sensitive to movement, you might end up having to move in on your servo horn. It's been a little while sence i've setup a new heli so i'm just sitting here thinking about it,i might be wrong.

I think i'm going to shoot for around 10 to 11 degrees, but hay thats just me.

Thanks

Hey smallplanes, remember , we have 2 different heads I think.
Don`t you have the "PRO" head ?
If so , can you take a picture of your head so I can see ? Thanks.

Ok i take a pic,but last time i had a very hard time posting them. If you would PM me your email. I see i just made a mistake on my tail push rod i did not read good enuff on the setup and i have the tail blade links in the center hole and not the outer hole. My push rod might not work now,it's already glued up.

Thanks for your help tru my build Jimbo

Just keep in mind that we were not talking about "normal" flying or flying in "Idle Up"...... the discussion was "what pitch for autos".... While 11 degrees might work "OK", if you have 16 degrees of pitch available (without overtravelling the servos), then that would be my choice...... for autos, the more the better, IMHO....

What i meant was i think his horn might have to much travel for normal or lets say idleup. Example: Have you ever put a long horn on a throttle servo and hooked it up to your carb? Well if so you would see that it might give you a lot of travel but you would only be able to use just a little bit of travel before your carb bottoms out. Then you have to go to endpoints and set a lot less % to keep from bottoming out. Then you would be wide open at 1/4 or so of travel. Thats why if you measure your carb horn and use one about the same size on your carb servo you get all of its usable travel. Thats what i meant by have to fly close to center stick. I might be wrong but thats what i'm thinking.

Thanks

IS THERE A SHADOW TO BE SEEN
Don't feel bad...Today is the First day in the low 50's in awhile. Here we still have ice snow on the fields... too mushy to drive on.
Tomorrow is Ground Hogs day....Let's hope for the best.
