No ones ignoring you

the extra length that you had on your header has been on my mind for a while - its just getting hold of one to cut down is the problem.
Been trying options with my header first.
Even thought of ringing Motors and Rotors to see if they can get me one.
Thing is really this issue has been going on for a long time and it is no where near to being sorted out.
This product is being sold as a complete solution like this

Anyway think I am going to get a side mount Zimmerman or Century, I am flying with the stock can but the canopy doesn't fit with it on...

Hopefully a solution will appear and I can get some use out of the rear mount later...

Yeah thats the stuff I`ve got here

Don`t think I`m just going to fit this and fly though -I need to do something with that gap first I think.

Just trying to find someone to machine the Teflon bar at the moment,then there`s trying to get a longer header and then there`s the metal tubing I`m thinking of fitting to completely close the gap.

Make it with a flange either end so it fits into the pipes,get the slight bend in it and then put that 350C Teflon and clips over the top.

BTW Alex is not prepared to exchange this muffler only supply a side mount at a slightly reduced cost.

Zimmerman also answered the emails and we not all that helpful.

Hmmm. I'm not surprised there. Why is it that the many of the Chinese will bend over backwards to get you what you want, yet these two companies are like, "take it or leave it"?

Are they going to charge you for a new header? I think you'll be grounded for a long time waiting for another header regardless of what it costs you. Might as well slap that sliver connector on there with a piece of tubing inside and see what happens.Avant RC

He is giving me the choice of two possibilities.

One needs to use that supplied metal flexible tubing plus Teflon and the other will need cutting to size and then use Teflon.

Until I can find someone to machine the Teflon I think that using the silver tubing is what my next plan will be.

You can only try.

Going to see if I can find some 20mm tubing (maybe Aluminium) later to enclose that gap a bit more before I use that stuff.

I have a sort of plan

At least the silicon didn`t leak like the Teflon.

Yeah, at least the silicone didn't leak.

I'm not sure what Alex is talking about, but what you need is a similar header but longer.

What about ordering a 1005 header and then having a pipe fitter bend it to the correct size/angle? Then using the silver silicone coupler or perhaps a standard length Teflon connector?

I don't know how you feel about it, but if I didn't have a Zimmerman muffler already, this thread would convince me to never buy anything Zimmerman or from RCMarket. Not even a side mount muffler. They don't have real good customer service there. Mikado has fairly good customer service (at least when going through ReadyHeli), so this mentality is apparently not ubiquitous to all German companies, but it sure is frustrating.

Malcolm I may be wrong but this may benefit you, albeit your going to be charged for it, I'm assuming that this is what you get normally with the 1005 set up and what mine came with.

Ok guys if you look in my gallery I will show you what works. I have been flying gassers since the 1005 came out. I have tried many different exhaust systems and different couplers. The rear mount system will work if you do the following. First, the gap between the header and muffler inlet has to be minimal. The header that came was a little long so I would trim the header and/or inlet pipe so there was just a small gap, slide the header and inlet pipe into the coupler until they touched then back out slightly. Second, the header and inlet must be close in alignment, you can tweak them to align them using a vise and a dowel inside to slightly bend them. Three, if the is no knurling on the ends ,abrade them with sand/emery paper. Four, use teflon connecters, all others will not last. I was able to cut a teflon connector in two pieces and still had enough for two clamps. The rear mount muffler is bolted rigidly to the frames with four bolts. This system worked for years with no problems. If the gap is excessive use a piece of tubing inside the coupler, with very small gap on the ends, to take up the space and then use four clamps.DaveDavison,GasGob,WhiplashGas,Spectra,JRXG11MV,12X

A quote today from Alex at RCMarket when I enquired about him sending me out one the headers that Graham has got.

"THE ISSUE IS, that the new mufflers, we make then little more "Outside" to allow canopy clearance.. so it will not work..
you will have offset of 3-4 mm, which should be covered by flex coupler"

He didn`t say anything else
