SRC/ RV,(motorhomes, campers, travel trailers)
Hello everyone. I want to post this message to all that are coming in one of these type vehicles. I know there will be several. I also know there are those that do not read RR that travel in their RV's to the events. If you know someone that is driving or pulling an RV, please take note. This is all RV's even the smaller motor homes and travel trailers.

The Lake Patrol Officers in charge of the area we fly at made a decision for me this morning. If you are arriving in an RV, we are going to have to locate you down past the flying field by the spillway, dam or whatever you call it. It is about 1/4th mile straight down due South of our runway. You can see this area from the flying field. It may not be 1/4th mile. It is the road our runway is on, and dead-ins at the lake. If you have been here, you know what I speak of.

I have no choice in the matter. A lot of the RV's start coming in on Thursday to set up and park. I have taken off work to help with this matter and will be there all afternoon on Thursday, for early birds.

We can help you unload your gear for flying, let you park in the temporary campground area, and we will shuttle you back to the field.
The area is a large parking area well paved. I am very sorry for this. I have a travel trailer myself and I know how handy these are for a funfly. We will use a trailer and also a golfcart to help with this shuttle thing.

We want you to come. We will do whatever it takes to assist you and we realize the inconvenience.
We have had so much rain since last Friday that our parking off the immediate pavement for the passenger vehicles etc. is not stable.
So.. the decision was made by the Lake Patrol/Law enforcement and passed on to me today.
Gates to the area are going to be left unlocked 24 hours a day, to help us with our situation.
Some will say, my RV is a small one, but we have to make it a blanket policy so we are fare to everyone.

Please PM me if you have any questions. I regret this inconvenience a lot.
Please call anyone you know that does not use RR for updates.Since we do not have electrical hookups for RV's under normal conditions, you would be using your generators anyway.

We have 24 hour round the clock Patrol of the area, by the Lake Patrol, a division of the Sheriffs Dept.

Thanks,
Weldon

Rain, rain, and more rain....
Hi Weldon and all,

The club officers met at the field during lunch today. The Lake Board Official said that we cannot park on the grass due to the flooding conditions are experiencing. We will need to try to double or triple park on the gravel parking area to accommodate as many as we can at the flying field. We will have club members there to help everyone with parking as they arrive.

There is a lot of water on the field and it's been poring all afternoon. Here's a couple of photos of what we're dealing with:

These were taken before the rains started today. Bring your rubber boots!

It never fails, does it? Last year it was Hurricane Ike and this year it's a stubborn low-pressure system. I'll have to see about some rubber boots myself.

Hi Guys,
Yes, it has rain a lot but I like to keep a positive attitude. Saturday it should hopefully be some nice weather.

We just need guys to be understanding of what is going on with the wet conditions.

I also wanted to let everyone know that I have reserved some tables for anyone one that would like to eat out with a group of pilots at one of the local restaurants. Last year a couple of dozen or more guys went to 2 senoritas Mexican restaurant on the west side of town close to the interstate and enjoy ourselves.

This year I have alerted them that I would like to bring that many and possibly more people to eat out, perhaps about 8 PM Friday night. The have good Mexican food and I have been told they have added a really good steak to the menu as well, so they have Mexican food as well a number of other things on the menu.

They also serve alcoholic beverages for those that would enjoy them. No sign up necessary just get with me Friday sometimes and let me know if you would like to go.

The manager has told me he will give us at least a l0 percent discount with such a group.

However, I do not want this to interfere with the Dinner planned at the field Saturday night. We hope you will stay for the Dinner, the nightflying and the pilot items we have to give away.

The Bright Side.
In the event someone goes down, and someone will. There is a chance for minor damage or major damage. The down side is Bobby might not sell as many spare parts. LOL

SRC event, weather, and lemons
Thanks for everyone having positive attitude.I just looked at the latest weather, and again it is showing it partly cloudy on Friday and the weekend.
Give heli guys lemons, and they make lemonaid, ... I think that is sort of what I have always heard, or was it. Anyway. ...
There will be a funfly at our field this weekend. Some real good food, nice prizes, the works.
If we can be of assistance to anyone, let us know..

Hey, I'll be there. It's as much about BS-ing with each other than the flying.

Has any thought been given to having heli pads of some sort (chair mats, whatever) at the flight stations off the ends of the runway? I'd hate to set my heli down to take off and have it sink into the muck. Or does that part of the field drain pretty well?

Oh, and I found a $20 pair of rubber boots at Wal-Mart.

A few sheets of plywood at the ends of the runways might be a nice touch. This would allow for a nice clean and dry place to takeoff and land.

Just a thought. See you there. This is going to be a great event! Been waiting all year for this one.

runway ends.
You would just have to be here to fully appreciate what all we have tried to come up with for ideas. We will utilize the runway, taxiway and anything above the water. We are still crossing our fingers on the sun etc. coming out . It is way overdue. We will get by.
We will be double pitting, setting up ez up canopies if you have them on the immediate taxi ways, and there is extended concrete padding that was not there last year.

A lot going on behind the scenes to make this work..
